When Microsoft Plus first came out (right at the same time as Windows95), I went wild! I have always loved to coordinate things. ("Excuse me, Karen. Do you have a pair of colored Reeboks to match EVERY outfit you own?")

You would be shocked if you knew how many Desktop Themes I have on my computer! These are just a few of my favorite ones that I have downloaded from the Internet.

You can click on each to see a larger view, I have tried to provide links for downloading, and I will feature different ones  whenever I get a chance.

If you want to find more themes or theme programs, just do a search on "Desktop Themes" in your favorite browser and you will be kept busy for weeks!

Tropical Interlude

I never, ever get tired of this one because it's so relaxing. You can't tell from the screenshot because the color scheme box is in the way, but it's YOUR shadow sitting in a beach chair, gazing out on the ocean horizon with a hat on! The accompanying sounds are beach sounds like waves crashing and seagulls calling. The wallpaper always elicits a positive comment from anyone who sees it.
The author is unknown, but you can download this theme from many sites, including the ThemeWorld.

Violet Lace

The person who has designed the majority of my favorite themes uses the name Nekbyter on her designs, but her real name is Pat Ames and she works at a major university in California.
Pat divides her themes into 10 different categories that are all great, but I have downloaded and use EVERY single one in her Sugar &  Spice section. They are all just so feminine and pretty... like "Violet Lace" pictured here. She has officially closed her site, but many of her themes may be downloaded from Kenja's Desktop Themes.

Cat Lover's Theme

If you've been exploring this web site, you may have concluded that my favorite color is PEACH. As a matter of fact, I went into my Display Settings, when I had this theme up, and saved the color scheme under Appearance so I can use just the colors sometimes. I have also saved the peach cursors from this theme separately in Mouse Properties in Control Panel.
The author is unknown and I have seen this theme in several collections, under several different names. You can find it in the Nature category by the name of "Kitty" at Trish's Theme Terrain which, by the way, is a beautifully designed site.

Aqua

This theme is very unlike most of the ones I enjoy but, when I select it, I usually keep it on my desktop for days. The colors are fabulous -- bright and vibrant. The wallpaper is a picture of a futuristic aquarium being visited by a family of the future and the fonts, sounds,   etc., reinforce that feeling of being "ahead in time."
The wallpaper was created by a graphic designer named Edmond Yang. His portfolio may be viewed at his own web site, although this graphic is no longer displayed there. The entire theme may be downloaded from several sites, including Themeworld.com.

Dreaming

This gorgeous, dreamy theme is by SyberGypsy. Her real name is Sadira and she is, by profession, a belly dancer in Oregon.  I JUST recently discovered her, and she has some GREAT stuff -- screensavers as well as Desktop Themes. Many of her work is based on the works of artists and her attention to detail and unity is wonderful. For example, the Desktop icons included in this theme are just beautiful. I noticed she no longer has this theme on her site, but you may still download it at Daily Themes.
Watch for more of her themes to be featured on this page... I can't wait to unzip the Shakespeare theme that I just downloaded this morning, and I helped myself to every one of her Art Deco themes!
