The mission of MOPS is to encourage, equip and develop every
mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a
woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.

MOPS at New Hanover is bigger than ever! We’re delighted that you wish to join us!

For those who are new, MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. We are part of an international organization for mothers with newborn to kindergarten-age children. It is our desire that mothers have a place to come for support and to learn to value their roles as mother and woman. MOPS meetings include time for refreshments and fellowship, devotion and instruction, as well as small group discussion and creative activities. Our “Mentor Mom,” guest speakers or fellow MOPS share about womanhood, parenting, marriage, home management or another topic from a Biblical perspective. In addition to regular meetings, we also have organized social events.

This year we will continue to have two MOPS chapters at New Hanover Church. This letter outlines some basic information about the chapters. A registration form is enclosed if you wish to join.

DAYTIME MOPS and MOPPETS
Our Daytime MOPS group has been active for more than 10 years. Regular meetings are held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, September through May. We provide childcare for the children (MOPPETS) of our MOPS members while they attend meetings. The goal of our MOPPETS program is to provide a safe, friendly atmosphere in which all children can feel God’s love and learn about His love for us. Children will receive teaching, recreation and snacks under the care and direction of faithful volunteers.

We are dedicated to providing our MOPPETS with the best possible programming. To maintain consistency for the volunteers serving your children, we will be strictly holding to 8-10 children per MOPPETS classroom. If we are unable to accommodate your child or children, we hope that you will either make other arrangements for childcare or that you will consider joining the NHPC Evening MOPS chapter.

EVENING MOPS
Our Evening MOPS group will begin its third year this September. Regular meetings are held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the 3rd Thursdays of each month, September through May. There is no MOPPETS program. However, childcare is offered on a call ahead basis.

In order to participate, we are required to collect a MOPS International registration fee of $20. REGISTRATION FORM
Consider which schedule -Day or Evening- will meet your needs this fall. These groups are separate charters and you may not interchange your membership between them. Your MOPS registration form is included with this cover letter; fill out both sides of the form with all of the information requested. (NHPC Evening MOPS registrants need only complete the first side.) Send your registration form with a **check payable to NHPC with MOPS in the memo line to:

Kelly Phipps, Finance & Registration Coordinator
11019 Seward Way
Mechanicsville, VA 23116

**Please note that the MOPS International registration fee of $20 must accompany your registration form or you will not be registered in MOPS and a space can not be held for your child/children in the Day MOPPETS program! You will receive written confirmation in August as to your child/children’s standing in our Day MOPPETS program.

As a day MOPS member, you are required to commit to serving on one of our MOPS committees. Please review these opportunities for service and select the area that best suits your gifts. You’ll learn about how MOPS works behind the scenes and the entire membership will benefit from you giving of yourself.

Come join us and experience what MOPS is all about. I hope you will find the fellowship of other women to be comfortable, delightful, and insightful, and that you feel the love of God and His direction for your life as a mother of a preschooler.
