I’ve been a birth doula since winter of 2002 and am certified with DONA and PALS. I am also a certified lactation educator and a certified childbirth educator with CAPPA. I have been to over 30 births and love being there to help a family welcome a new member.

I received my birth doula training at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington in the winter of 2002.  I then took my CAPPA lactation educator training with Kristine Campbell in spring of 2003 in Renton, Washington. And, finally, my CAPPA childbirth educator training with Jeanne Moshay in Key Center, Washington during the fall of 2003. I am currently in a distance midwifery program training with New Life Home Birth.

I am currently a volunteer for Operation Special Delivery in the state of Virginia. Operation Special Delivery is a non-profit organization that provides free birth doula services to partners of armed services members who are deployed at the time of the birth of their baby.

I have a bachelors of arts in history from the University of Washington, where I graduated in 2004. Currently, I am in medical school at the University of Virginia and plan on specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In my free time, which is few and far between, I enjoy reading, watching Gilmore Girls and Supernatural on TV, and hiking. I love being a part of the birth community here in Charlottesville through Birth Matters of Charlottesville and part of the Virginia Birth PAC.
