for October 2003

This year the weather was good (except for a storm during setup). I began setting up the weekend prior to Halloween by decorating the garage. I had 2 week days off (on one of which it rained and hailed). During these days I attacked the outdoor areas. I worked Halloween day, but got off early thanks to the kindness of Gina & Jennifer, 2 co-workers. Thus I had an easy time with final adjustment of lights; icing the fog chiller; lighting candles; and activating all the props. As par for my setup, there were a couple items I forgot to activate until well into the evening.

Before darkness fell upon the land

Now the fun begins

Garage entrance The plaques on the wall are motion sensitive. In the garage was a photo theremin whose sounds were modified by passer bys. Pin spots are providing the illumination.

I'm working toward a dragon/wizard motif. The wizard & dragon were in a separate room viewed thru a window. The wand held by the wizard did a fade thru a series of colors. The eyes of the wizard and nostrils of the dragon contained fluttering UV leds. The skeleton area was illuminated with black light.

This spider room contained black lights as well as a motion sensor that set off several curtain strobes hanging from the ceiling. A haze machine provided an atmosphere for this room.

This set of pumpkins were carved by Andrea and given to me for my and everyone else's enjoyment. There were lots of superlative comments about Andrea's work. There is a 7th pumpkin of which I failed to get a close up shot.

I used a par flood on the witch as well as 4 different colored pars on the frankenstein/coffin scene. These last 4 par's were connected to a dimmer pak that changed the colors to the beat of music being placed. The skeleton/tombstone area contains black lights, a fog machine with chiller attachment (to get the fog to lie low), and a bubble machine connected to a motion detector.
