This tutorial will teach you how to make a 3-4 pixel border, perfect for use in signatures, banners, or anything you need a border for.

1. Start with a source image. I will go with this signature I made for myself:

2. Make a new layer. Select your marquee tool. Find the demensions for your image. For me they are 400 x 150.

3. Now go to the top and from the drop down menu select "fixed size". Subtract two from each of your demension figures.

4. Now click near the bottom right of your image somewhere. Now press up once on your keyboard, and left once.

5. The marquee should be centered like so:

6. Now right click the center of the marquee and click on stroke. Use either 1 or 2 pixels depending on your preference, for me I am using 2. Make sure "Inside" is checked and click ok.

7. Now double click on the layer with the border and click on "stroke", and make sure it is black, outside, and 1 pixel.
