Welcome to Rebelo's Kenpo Karate

Welcome to the Kealoha Kenpo American Alliance!,
The Kealoha Kenpo American Alliance (K.K.A.A.) is a historical research group dedicated to the promotion and perpectuation of Ed Parker's American Kenpo Karate. It is dedicated to educating the Kenpoist to the history, philosophy, vocabulary and terminology of Senior Grandmaster Edmund Kealoha Parker Sr. It is also designed to research the life and times of SGM Parker and to understand the various influences that contributed to the creation and formulization of What has come to known by such myrid names as "American Kenpo","Parker Kenpo", or "Ed Parker's American Kenpo" [EPAK]. An old adage states "Those who forget their past are doomed to repeat it.", The KKAA seeks to remember the past, detail out the present and acknowledge the future of Mr. Parker's mighty art!

"Why is it when you join an association, They stop associating with you?" -Skip Hancock

We want to emphasize that the KKAA is NOT an association/organization "Per Se",rather,we are primarilly a historical research group that focuses on answering pertanent questions regarding the background, creation, influences that comprise the ingredients of a given basic, technique, set, form or freestyle technique. Whether kung fu,danzan ryu jujutsu, aikido or other art,we list it's inclusion in Mr. Parker's system and why it was placed there! In a never ending search to gain more insight, the KKAA interviews kenpo seniors to gleam insightful information that will benefit all kenpoists. We also search for "Variations on a theme" as far looking at different versions of a given technique and exploring the logic of that particular slant on a given action. Mr. Parker once said "I'm so sick of those guys who say to me "There has to be just one way of doing ______" It truly upset him that people would be so closed minded as to not look beyond the basic foundation and learn, grow and evolve! Another quote from Mr. Parker was "Kenpo doesn't change,it's in a state of perpectual refinement!" That being said, The KKAA strives to recognize the myrid major variations and acknowledge their existance in regards to the overall "Kenpo Panorama".Many times I have seen members of a given organization slighted, ignored and forgotten once their yearly dues were received.

"Why are we called the Kealoha Kenpo American Alliance?'

the name of the group was thought of several years ago and it's meanings are multi-fold. Kealoha was the middle name of SGM Edmund Kealoha Parker Sr. It comes from the Hawaiian language and is translated as "Beloved" or "Beloved one". Truly,Mr. Parker was to so many of us, our "Beloved" instructor and his art of Kenpo was "beloved" to him. His wife,Leilani and his children and grand children were his "beloved" offspring and his love for them was boundless. His art was founded in American soil [Hawaii] and his unique art of what would later be called "American Kenpo" was based on practical self defense found on our streets today. As Kenpoists, we chose to form an "alliance" of friends and aquaintances for the greater good of understanding our "beloved" art.,style and system. The choice of the anacronym was chosen to remember the first organization that Mr. Parker founded, The Kenpo Karate Association of America. We seek to continue the lagacy of our beloved instructor and his beloved art.

We offer a suplimental input to the kenpo training you are receiving. We are not here to replace any established group, rather to act as a "consortium of knowledge" to any kenpo instructor who wishes to utilize our services. The KKAA is designed for the member of the fraternity/sorority of black belts and especially to instructors who are looking to enhance their overal picture of Ed Parker's American Kenpo Karate. The KKAA also recognizes those individuals who have strived to create their own unique style of kenpo based on Mr. Parker's teachings.
