Kent Classic

The Kent Classic Invitational Volleyball Tournament features some of the top teams in Washington and Oregon. The Classic emphasizes playing a lot of volleyball in one day. We use a format that is different than most, but one that maximizes the amount of volleyball the teams play, and minimizes waiting.

This year we have limited the field to 27 teams and two locations. Both participating schools, Kentlake and Kentwood, have proud Volleyball histories. Kentlake won three State titles this decade. Both Kentlake and Kentwood participated in the State tournament many times this decade. Both schools feature very good facilities with concessions and hospitality rooms for the coaches and refs.

The tournament is designed to maximize the number of games you play and to ensure you will be playing against teams of like ability. There will be two rounds of three team pools, followed by playoffs. This format has been very well received. All matches will have professional up refs provided.

Staying on Time

We have taken steps to ensure we stay on schedule this year. We are limited the pool rounds to two games to 25. We will have only one change of location this year, between the first and second rounds of pool play. So, the twelve top teams in round one (the eight pool winners plus the best four second place teams) will play the second set of pool play and the playoff brackets at Kentlake. The other twelve teams will play the second set of pool play and the playoff brackets at Kentwood. Warm-ups will be limited (4-4-2 for the first two games and 4-1 thereafter) and timeouts will be for 30 seconds only. There will be only one minute between games.
