Welcome
to my website. I'm
the author of The Ryel
Saga: A Tale Of Love And Magic, now available in digital format for
the
Amazon Kindle, at Smashwords, and at many other online ebook
retailers.
The Ryel Saga
was
previously published as the duology Wysard and Lord Brother,
which garnered
critical acclaim
when it first appeared in paperback
some years ago. The
two
parts are now joined in a single volume, with many
previously-excised passages restored.
A synopsis and the entire first chapter of The Ryel Saga can
be
found at the link above, or via
clicking the book cover.
"A
well-written,
intelligent fantasy with a beautifully crafted world
... A book to ponder, savor, contemplate but not rush through at
breakneck speed... Concise but lyric, the prose complements the tale." ~Crescent
Blues Book Views
"A
solid
grasp
of story and setting, including the socio-economic and
ethnic frameworks crucial to a good fantasy ... One note about
Kephart's
fantasy is the absence of dragons, elves, fairies, talking swords, and
so forth. Her
plot and scenes are driven entirely by human and demonic forces, which
some
readers may prefer." ~The Bookshelf
"This
book
has
all the elements of a superior fantasy novel, including
the creation of a unique, full-blooded world... it will make the reader
think and wonder, not
only about the storyline, but about the nature of life, death, and
fate. As in real life, there are no easy or simple answers." ~Sirius

My blog, Wysardessence: A
Fantasist's Reality, is a running account of whatever's fascinating
me at the moment. Now and then I talk about what I'm writing.
In addition to my published work, I have several other books in
varying stages of completion. One of them, a magic-realism novel
entitled Faustine,
will
appear
for the Amazon Kindle in the very near future.
