As many of you know, I have recently had an interest in the Kersey family. Some of my Kersey research will be in the book I plan to publish next year.
Edward Ricks had several Kersey grandchildren, in addition to the fact that his father Jonas maintained a close relationship with members of the early Kersey family in Guilford County. Daniel Kersey was appointed to monitor Edward's Quaker marriage in 1792.
One of Edward Ricks' sisters married a man named Jesse Henderson, but I don't know much about him or her. Below is all the information I have:
"8. Elizabeth2 Ricks, (Jonas1), born 11 June 1783; married Jesse Henderson in Greensboro, North Carolina, 30 November 1809.
Known child of Jessee Henderson and Elizabeth2 Ricks, probably others:
32 i. Hannah3 Henderson, born about 1816; married Jasper Wilson Kersey, son of Ezra Kersey and Mary Odell, 14 October 1836; witnesses were Henry Kersey and M. Mendenhall. Children: (a) Nancy C. Kersey, born 1838; (b) Jesse Kersey, borm 1840; (c) Mary M. Kersey, born 1841; and (d) Hannah C. Kersey, born 1846."
Source: The Descendants of Jonas Ricks and Other Ricks Families in America (Nashville, Tenn.: Not yet pub, 1997), chapter 2.
When Edward Ricks died in 1847 he held a receipt for a loan to his sister's husband, Jasper Kersey, declared doubtful. He and Asenith Ricks Kersey (his daughter) were the only Kerseys mentioned in the estate record. Does anyone know anything about Jasper Kersey and his family?
Thanks for your time,
Donald M. Ricks

My name is Nancy Kersey Littlefield. Both our families are from England.
Supposedly my husbands family is from Titchfield. I don't even know where
that is at. I thought that my family was from the Isle of Man, but I am
not sure. If you know of any of the Kersey family that migrated to the
states, I would like to know. I also heard that there is or was a place
called Kersey,England.Do you know about that? Thanks, Nancy

Hi Tracey,
I can give you an abbreviated history. My father was Dale Soots Kersey, born and died in Hendricks County, Indiana 12-13-1918-10-6-1996, his father was Fred James Kersey, his father Dayton Kersey, his father James Kersey, his father James Kersey all born and died in Hendricks Co., Indiana. I do have information that Theodore Kersey also of Hendricks Co. did, as he was researching the family. I also have information that John Kersey came from Ayreshire Scotland in 1650 settled I think in Guilford, N.C., where eventually the family migrated to Indiana.
This is all I can tell you right now, since I'm at work and all my info is at home. Hope to hear from you soon.

By the way, I have an Emiline (Emeline?) Kersey in my data, who married a John Warts (Watts?). Check my web page to see if she matches your data.

Dear Marv,
I checked your site last night after I sent you the email. My Emeline Kirksey never married but had children. Your Emeline got married. Emelines father was Jesse Kirksey from North Carolina but I have been unable to locate him in NC or TN. On Emelines death certificate it states this and this is all I have that show his name. Jesse could have been a nickname or middle name that he went by and this might explain why I can't find him.
Thanks for your time.
