Barbara,

I would be glad to mail the color version to you. I got a new ink jet printer for Christmas. The coat of arms comes out looking good.

I would like to explain that I colored it myself. However I used the description at the bottom of the page on what the colors are. I also saw the colors in a book on Heraldry at the library, and again at a friends house who has books on Heraldry.

As I told Marv, it was given to me by my uncle about twenty years ago. He made a trip to England ( I'm told ) and somehow someone gave him the description. He had it drawn up as you see it. How authentic it is, I don't know. I kept it packed away until I saw Hugh's version of it with a Boars Head on top of a Shield . Coming from a different Kersey source, I thought this has to be the right description.

My Uncle is dead now, and none of his family is interested in geneology. They don't even know where his years, and years of geneology research is. That's sad!

When the Indian part of our geneology came about, some of the family didn't want any part of it, and quite possibly his works were destroyed. So for what it's worth, I'm sharing it with other Kersey's. He would be proud!

Hi folks--

I followed the link below, supplied by Tracey, and found an interesting note on a Vierling Kersey. Does anyone know his ancestors? As pure speculation, I suggest that he might be the son and grandson of the two Vierling Kerseys that I have in the data on my web page.

http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/rlinamc.html

Here is the info I found:

Author: California. Dept. of Education. Superintendent of

Public Instruction.

Title: Subject files, 1933-1937.

Description: 47 file folders.

Notes: Vierling Kersey was appointed to the vacant

office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction by

Governor Young on February 11, 1929. Kersey was re-elected

in 1930 and 1934, but resigned in 1935 to become County

Superintendent of Schools in Los Angeles. A native of Los

Angeles, Kersey graduated from the Los Angeles Normal School

(later known as the University of California at Los Angeles),

later receiving a B.A. and M.A. from the University of

Southern California.

Contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, and

minutes relating to the Superintendent's roles as

administrator and chief spokesperson for the Department. The

records reflect the effects of the Depression on education,

including the administration of state and federal relief

programs such as the National Youth Administration and the

Civilian Conservation Corps. Other major subjects include

the Long Beach earthquake of 1933 and the development of

Hi Hugh--

Good question. There are two basic things to do to join the Kersey Family ring:

1. Put the "code fragment" in the source code for your web page.

You will have to decide where you want the ring logo to appear on your page. Check my page to see how it looks there or you can open the "code fragment" directly from your web browser to see how it looks by itself. You can also try inserting in the source code for your page and opening the source file for your page without uploading to your server. That way you can try different placings for the logo.

2. Join the ring.

There are two ways to join the ring:

a. Put the "code fragment" on your page and then click on the "Want to join the ring?" link. This will take you to the ring entry web page.

b. Go to the ring entry form on my page:

http://www.halcyon.com/millerm/ring/ring.htm

I hope everyone with a web page having Kersey information will join!

Hope to see your page on the ring soon,

Thomas was in the 1840 Carroll Co TN census and in the 1850 Randolph Co AR census.

Hiram moved to AR @ 1860 where he is listed in the 1860 census in (as she wrote it)

Fulton AR. Benton tsp. Salem. In 1870 Hiram was still in Fulton Co.

Could anyone help her find Hiram's parents, siblings and even further back? She would be very appreciative for any information, which I will send on to her by snail mail.

Tracy,

thanks fosr the web site. The Joseph T. Kersey is actually Joseph Tallie Kersey. the son of my illusive Steven Kersey. I found Joseph and Mary E. Duffel Kersey on the 1910 Manatee County Census, he was 51, and she 42. Thier children were Austin H. ,b. 1891, Lacey M. b. 1901, Johan H. b 1906, and Laura who must have been born after 1910 I am going to list Stevens other children who like Steven ended up in and around the Tampa area, which leaves me to believe that Steven had kin in that area, that's why he went there from Alabama.

Morgan Thomas Kersey Marrried Mary Missouri Tucker, Nov. 23, 1898. their children were: Gettis b. April 1880, twins Emmett, and Emma b. Aug 1883, twins Henry, and Dolly b. April 1888, Luther b. April 1894. Stella ElWilda b. Nov 1898.

El' Wilda Kersey born 1863 married a Stephens ( first name unknown ) Children were Millie, Theodore, and Leslie, I have no birth dates for them.

Pocahantus Emma Kersey b. Aug 6, 1864 married David Washington Thompson Dec 5, 1882. Children were: Thomas J. b April8, 1887, Bertha G. b. April 19, 1889, Mary L. b. July 21, 1891, Levada T. b. July 31, 1893, Eugene D. b April 19, 1896, Ethel R. b. April 4, 1898. Yola H. b. June 29, 1901. I got this info from Poncahantus's granddaughter who visits Pensacola, but lives in the Tampa area.

Steven's first child was William Jasper Kersey b. 1841 first married Mary Melinda Folmar, April 26, 1860 in Troy Alabama. children were Mary Peace, b. 1862, Sarah E. b. 1867, Ardella S. b 1869, Arcephona V. b. 1870, Osceola R. b.1876.

Second marraige was to Sarah E. King. circa 1884. Children were: William t. b 1885, Annie b.1887, and Cora b. 1892.

William Jasper also ended up in the Tampa area.

There was a daughter who stayed in Alabama, she was Bedora Ann Kersey b. 1842.

married Peter Brunson DEc 3, 1857, children were: Matilda b. 1860, James M.

b. 1864, and Mary E. b. 1868

Last but not least was my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin Kersey ( the second son of Steven ) born Jan 1849, Alabama. married Samantha Elizabeth Harrell 1860. Children were: Oscar Lee b. 1862, Clemartine b. 1864, Roberta Mary b. 1866, Mellinee b. 1873, Henry E. b 1875, Emma Viola, b. 1880. Benjamin F ( my grandfather ) b. 1883, Thomas Michael b. 1886, Patrick James ( JanasM's grandfather ) b. 1889, and Idella Elizabeth b. 1891. All of Ben and Samanthas children were born in Pensacola, Florida.

All of Steven and Mary's children were born in Alabama but most of their grandchildren were born in Florida.

Thanks for the info I dont know who Elijah Kersey or Librow Kersey are. They must be kin. If anyone knows please e-mail me, Hope this helps someone. Are there any other Kersey' s on the List from Florida.

Subject: BUTTERWORTH FAULCONER JONES MOON England > NY 1790s [Long]

BUTTERWORTH, FAULCONER, JONES, MOON England > NY 1790s [Long]

Seeking information on the following individuals as possible brothers-in-law of my immigrant ancestor, Thomas STREETER.

On 25 October 1795, Thomas STREETER (1753-1831) and several others purchased land to the northwest of Bath, Steuben Co., NY, on the site of modern-day Kanona; Bath's founder, Charles Williamson, dubbed it "New Providence" (William Kersey, 1795 survey of New Providence). The other lots of "New Providence" were purchased by William FAULCONER Jr., Thomas FAULCONER, Richard MOON, William FAULCONER, Williams JONES and James BUTTERWORTH.

["New Providence" is] ... a fmall fettlement confifting of about four Englifh families, which arrived here from London only fix months ago. They are chiefly fawyers, who had been ufed to work for the cabinet-makers in that great metropolis. ... Two of the wives of thefe new fettlers have already caught the fever, and not one of them appears to enjoy a good ftate of health (12 June 1795, Alexandre Fran ois, the Duke de la Rochefoulcault-Liancourt, Travels Through The United States of North America, The Country of the Iroquois, and Upper Canada, in the Years 1795, 1796, and 1797; with an Authentic Account of Lower Canada; printed for R. Philips, London, 1799).

Strangely, there are no grantor deeds for these "New Providence" lots; Richard MOON seems to be the only one who retained his lot in the ghost town of "New Providence" into the 1800s. Also, none he 1800 census of Steuben Co., NY. However, a Richard MOON and two men named William JONES appear in Ontario Co., NY in 1800.

Richard MOON was Charles WILLIAMSON's "taylor" (Williamson's Ledger A, folio 214); his wife's name was Harriet (Bath Deeds, 1:92). Prior to his arrival in Bath, Richard MOON was living at Mt. Pleasant, Westchester Co., NY. He and Harriet are named in a lawsuit, Elijah Hunter v. William Durrell & Others (Joseph Fellows Papers, Box 81, Olin Library, Cornell University). In 1793, Richard MOON and Thomas BEAL, also of Mt. Pleasant, "being alien subjects of the King of Great Britain purchased in fee simple... two tracts of lands"; these transactions were recorded 5 December 1795 in the Record of Mortgages for Westchester Co.

The families of two other STREETER immigrants, William, and Thomas (b. 1765-75), are also closely tied with families named FAULCONER, FALCONER, FAULKNER, etc; they may have been nephews of Thomas (1753-1831). In the 1790 Census of Ulster Co., NY, a William FALKENER and William FALKENER the 2nd are listed at Wallkill. In 1810, a William FAULKNER and William FAULKNER Jr. are listed in Greene Co., NY, specifically at Lexington in 1820. William STREETER and his "sister [possibly his aunt]," Elizabeth (STREETER) FAULKNER, both died at Lexington. Is it possible that one or both of these pairs of Williams are identical with Thomas' neighbors at "New Providence?" William FAULCONER Jr.'s wife's name was Sally Ann (Bath Deeds, 1:92).

Based on other evidence not presented here, Thomas STREETER probably immigrated with an English wife. She was probably a sister to one of the other founders of "New Providence": William FAULCONER Jr., Thomas FAULCONER, Richard MOON, William FAULCONER, Williams JONES or James BUTTERWORTH.

Will, and Everyone,

please help me think about this. Steven A. Kersey was born circa 1812, or 1815 in South Carolina. Family story is he was adopted by a Kersey. Steven married Mary M. Peace b. 1822 in Georgia. Then moved to Alabama, they are first listed on the 1850 Pike County Al census, again in 1860, and again in 1870. When he left Alabama I don't know, but his children show up on the Tampa Census 1910. I am wondering if Cader could be brother, or cousin to Steven? Am I getting this all confused?

Thanks,

My husband's Kerseys were in Newberry and Union Co. SC having come there from VA. His earliest ancestor was William Richard Kersey. I think he was a Bapt preacher and a Mason. I'll check my records and send you what I have; maybe we can make a connection.

Tracy,

I went back to the Hillsborough County Site that you reccommended, and found another Kersey. He was listed under Stetson Kennedy's Collection. It listed Kersey---Pelts, Plumes , and Hides. When I typed that in The Seminole Nation came up. It told of how Harry Kersey was the Historian of some adventure. Unfortunately, my screen froze. I couldn't print it, or do anything. I had to eventually boot my computer just to get back. I can't get AOL to respond to my calls, but will keep trying. There's nothing wrong with my computer. The error is on aol's side.

There are too many coincidences with the Kerseys, and the Seminoles. One day I will find it. With everyones help, hopefully sooner.

Thanks that site has been a wonderment.

Hi Larry,

Welcome, I think we might find kinship here somewhere, Most of my Kersey's went to the Area that you are talking about. One of them was William Jasper Kersey born.

1841 in Alabama, but his parents went to Alabama from Georgia., Then to the Tampa area. My Ggrandfather Ben stayed in Pensacola, when the family came through on their way to South Florida. Have you proven the Indian blood line yet? We are searching still for proof, I would be 1/16 if I could prove it.

Hi folks--

I have finally downloaded the Dickerson family Bible images. They are available by sending email to millerm@halcyon.com with SUBJECT set to "Kersey:CMD:GET Lvabibl1.jpg" (without the quotes). Remember the list software is picky. The command has to be typed exactly as shown. Use cut and paste to avoid errors. There are six files Lvabibl1.jpg through Lvabibl6.jpg. As always, one file per command. These images are from a family bible printed in 1892. This family lived in Pulaski Co., Virginia. Kerseys mentioned are:

Burnett Kersey (1886-1922) m. 1919 Alma Dickerson (1892- )

Agnes Kersey m. 1902 Walter H. Dickerson (1878 - )

Ruth E. Kersey b. 1920

Thanks to Tracey for finding these files.

Hey Janas,

let me know. I've read Larry Kersey's letter. His story sounds like our family story, only he has different names. If he ties into the indian blood line, then we're kin. Maybe he will help us to tie it together! HOPE SO!

Gotta run, today is my Birthday, have company coming through the door with presents. Jim bought me the Deluxe Edition 111 of Family Tree Maker. It's suppose to copy the old version . Gad I sure hope so or I'll be sitting for hours again.

SeeYa

Doris
