Linda,

Family Tree Maker is only as good as the person that gives them the

information. That is where they get their information from. Also from the

FTM User Home Pages. They go to web sites and take the information. They do

no research themselves, they just use everyone elses, if it's right or wrong.

I got the deluxe addition today for my birthday. Thanks for the warning. I have most of my own information already. I have the very first edition that FTM came out with. had no CD's then.

LDS gave me a lot of wrong information on their CD's also. Luckley I already

had the correct info.

Anderson Trim

Anderson Trim was born in Greene County, Tennessee in 1797. He was married three times and was the father of twelve children. He was a Farmer, Methodist minister, and a Tavern

owner. He lived in several counties in Tennessee, including Monroe, McMinn, and Bradley County where he died in the 1870's. It was thanks to Anderson that we were able to trace the

whereabouts of Isaac & Phoebe Erwin during their early days of marriage as they seemed to move with him and his family.

Anderson first married Sydney Carter in Greene County, Tennessee on June 2, 1817. Sydney died sometime later in McMinn County. Anderson later married Matilda Cate in Washington,

Tennessee (Rhea Co.) Anderson & Matilda were divorced in 1851 and Anderson then married Elizabeth Ann Thomas, also of Rhea County. They then moved to Cleveland, Tennessee in

Bradley County.

1850 census of Emanuel Co., Georgia

Visit 248: KERSEY, John 66, North Carolina; Nancy 62, South Carolina; Solomon 21; James 19; Eliza 41

Visit 250: KERSEY, Thomas 40; Susanah 37; John 12; James 10; Marenthy 8; Nicy 6; Mary 3

Visit 256: KERSEY, John B. 25; Sarah 18; Thomas 7/12

I have more descendants of John and John B. on my web page. I know that John B. is the son of John. Just from their positions in the census and their ages, I am guessing that Thomas is also a son of John. Can anyone confirm that? Also does anyone know if John B. Welcome Gerry,

it is quite possible that that JanasM , and I are connected to Georgia. Our Gggrandmother Mary Kersey was born in Georgia ( county unknown as yet ) We are told by a cousin that Mary's maiden name was Peace. Sorry that is all we have to go on, other than she married Steven A. Kersey, a Physician, and sometime before 1850 they moved to Alabama, then before the 1880 Census they moved to the Tampa area. Have the childrens, names and birth dates if you're interested. Mary was born ( according to the 1850 ALABAMA Census, in 1822 , and Steven 1812, or 1815 )

Hope there's a connection,

I have never seen nor found the Kersey name anywhere on or in anything pertaining to the Cherokee Indians. Seminoles, yes, and have some documents to prove the Kersey's were connected to them. If you have any documents to such, I would appreciate your sharing them. I in turn will happily share with you what I have. I do believe that our lines connect somewhere. I have been doing geneology about 30 years, there's something about your geneology that makes me think we're distant kin.

Hi folks--

Here is a gruesome bit of Kersey history:

http://members.aol.com/SelnaV/EvansEvents.html

2. Mary Evans, born in North Wales about 1826 married a Mr. Brennan from Lancashire; son Robert Brennan was born 1 Apr 1852 Caseyville,

Illinois (my great-great-grandfather); Mr. Brennan apparently died and Mary re-married Lewis Morris (born North Wales 1820). With Mr. Morris

she had a daughter, Angela Jane (Jenny) who married William Emmert and Edward R. Kersey; another daughter, Ellen Morris was born about 1858

and died as a child. Mary Evans' second husband, Lewis Morris, beat her to death in Caseyville, Illinois on 5 Sep 1862 (she died on 7 Sep 1862); he

claimed that she was drunk and trying to steal his purse; he was sent to prison in Joliet, Illinois, where he died two years later. Robert Brennan, at

age 12, was homeless and began work in the coal mines. He married Wilhelmina Frances Kersey on 9 Apr 1874 and their children included Alice

Corine Foster (1882-1972), Jennie Hazel Fulton (1887-1990), Robert E. Brennan (1875-1933), George E. Brennan (1877-1965 in Sidney, Montana),

Joseph William Brennan (1879-1977), Evert John Brennan (1884-1894), Leao Brennan (1891-1892) Stanley Brennan (1896-1898) and Milton

This data seems to match with David E. Kersey, son of Cader Kersey. Notice that he would have been at most 15 when he enlisted. I don't understand the part about the 1860 census taker. Seem premature to me ;-)

Don't worry about the gender mixup...at my job, I even get stuff addressed to Pastor Layne Perkins and Rev. Layne Perkins...:) I think it is funny!

Yes, you are right, I do not know anything beyond Margaret Rose Ann Kersey. I have several different surnames I am looking for...so no one of them gets very much attention...I just do a little searching now and then and sometimes I do get email, such as yours, to let me in on others' info.

I am looking forward to seeing if there is a connection anywhere...I don't know much about my mother's side of the family...seems they were not concerned with relatives and stuff...or maybe there was some skeleton they didn't want uncovered...oh, well.

Talk to ya later,

Another opportunity for me!

The two Frances KEARSEY's are "my" family. Frances sen. was the wife of John KEARSEY. John was born in 1794, the grandson of my five greats grandfather, Richard, and son of Charles KERSEY. Charles was born at at Nymphsfield, just across the valley from us here. Nymphsfield is easily identified from our garden as a wind generator has been erected there (we are 1000ft above sea level!).

John married Frances WOODMAN in 1818 in Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire. She was a School teacher and ran her own school in Maugersbury, near Stow on the Wold. Her daughter, Frances, was an assistant teacher and Mary COLLETT was almost certainly a cousin.

The spelling of my family surname changed about 1825 when the "A" was added to make it KEARSEY.

Hope all this is of interest

Hugh Kearsey

P.S. A lot of the data on the Internet is wrong. I hope it was not Marv that changed Frances to Francis!

To all,

This gives me the opportunity to say a bit about English KERSEY families!

This family, the two Amelias who were in Chipping Campden in 1881, had its roots in Suffolk around the Lowestoft area. They were very much involved with the sea. However, one member, Richard, born in Lowestoft in 1761, found his way to Oxfordshire, married a Mary and had three sons. One of them, Moses, who was born in Oxford, married Catherine BREWER there in 1817, joined the Royal Navy and moved to Portsmouth where they had two children. Catherine died and Moses remarried to Amelia LANGFORD. They had two children in Portsmouth and in about 1831 moved to Oxford where they had six more children. By 1851, Moses had left the Navy and become a "Greenwich Pensioner". Moses died in 1869 and Amelia moved to Gloucestershire to be near her daughter Amelia. In 1881 she was living next door to her daughter who was a cook. All the male children died young, so there are no KERSEY descendants.

These are "my" family. The father, Richard was born in the house where I now

live. Richard went out to Canada, his wife died, so he left those children in

Canada and then returned to England, married and had more family, and then

left them and returned to Canada where he died at Guelph. Although there were

no male descendants in Canada (Richard had a daughter who was left with

another family), I am in touch with a decendant on a female line who lives in

St. Catherines, Ont. and whom we have visited.

Family History is a good way of finding relatives on whom you can call when on holiday!

Marv, I noticed your note this morning about John A Kersey and

Priscilla Jane Owen. I have a bit more information on them that Jane

Norton Powell (on our Kersey List) had sent me, which a John Durham

os Scottsdale AZ had sent her. My main interest in the info was the

Owen surname, but I'll get to that in a moment. Mr. Durham had a

group sheet for John A Kersey and Priscilla. He had thought that

John's father was Edward Kersey and mother was Anna King, but he said

at the time it had not been proven. According to the group sheet John

d. 1867. Priscilla was b.1 Nov 1841 in Montgomery Co IN, d. 9 Feb

1935 in Hendricks Co IN. Her parents were John M. Owen and Mary Ann

"Polly" Clark. It also lists the children: Mary Matilda and

Jesse M. Somewhere I have the parents of Mary "Polly" Clark. I'll

have to sift through my notes and find them if anyone is interested.

Also have dates for Matilda and Jesse.

This John A Kersey is not as far as I know any of my Kersey family,

but I'm interested in the Owen family.

I have tried to find the connection between the John M. Owen

(Priscilla's father) and my Montgomery Co Owen/Owens. A possible

brother of my GG Grandfather Owen Owen/Owens and son of my GGG

Grandfather John Owen/Owens. So if anyone claims John A Kersey and

Priscilla Owen etc. let me know. Maybe we can help each other.
