John was born 1804 in Kentucky, moved tp Clinton County, Indiana, around 1831 with brother Joseph and likely their dad Thomas. All three were there in 1850 census. John died 22 Sep 1874 in Lee County, Iowa, while visiting his brother. He was buried in Clinton County. He and Catherine married 18 Oct 1838 in Boone County, Indiana. Catherine KERSEY was born 1808 in Kentucky, died 3 May 1897 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. She was buried in the Greenbush Cemetery in Lafayette. She had to sell the farm in 1880 and moved to Chauncey, a suburb of Lafayette. In 1889 she was living in the Tippecanoe County Poor House. Their daughter Lucretia is my direct ancestor. She died in 1876, only 2 years after her father died, leaving 6 kids aged 1 to 11. Actually, I can't find the oldest child after the 1870 census. Suspect she died early, but not sure as I also don't find Edna Maude HAIN in any census, but have letters and photos of her with the family as an adult. Lucretia married Levi Jennings HAIN 14 Apr 1861. Have more info to share. Would love to add info on the collateral lines. Linda

Unfortunately some are not! The address of Suffolk Record Office is: (there are three!). This looks the best one: Suffolk Record Office, Gatacre Road, IPSWICH, IP1 2LQ, U.K. You can write to the Suffolk F.H.S. (with sae or irc) to ask if they are transcribing the Kersey Registers. #5. Kersey:Introduction - from Pat Wills
Top
Date: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 12:55:23 -0800 From: Pat Wills <thewills@bellsouth.net> Subject: Kersey:Introduction Hello, My name is Patricia Ann Kersey Wills. I am new to WWW and to "genealogy searching". I was born on Nov 11, 1949 in a small town in southern Indiana called Pekin. My father's name is Jackson Richard Kersey. My mother's name is Mayetta Fern Sullivan Kersey. Jackson Richard Kersey was born on Sept 9, 1927 in Hordie Co, Florida. Father: Walter Edward Kersey Born: Nashville, TN 1896 Died: Detroit, MI 1962 Mother: Ethel Perryman Kersey Born: Memphis, TN 1898 Died: Michigan, 1929 At the time of his birth there were 5 children (including him) born and still alive and 4 children born alive and no longer living. Jackson Richard Kersey died on May 13, 1969 from a stroke at the age of 41. At the time of his death, he and Mayetta had 4 sons: Jackie - age 23, John - age 16, Jerry - age 14, James - age 6 months. 1 daughter - Patricia - age 19. And one child Jeremy - Not Yet Born. I have only bits and pieces about his childhood. His father placed all of the children in an orphanage after the death of his mother. He spent his early years in and out of foster homes. At some point he ran off to Indiana (from Michigan) and ended up in a town called Salem. There is where he met my mother. In the early 60's a sister (Kathryn) located the children. Kathryn lives in Elkhart, Indiana, Goldie lives in southern Indiana, Rose live in California ?? , and the other sister?????? At my father's funeral two young men showed up. One was named Jimmy. They were his step brothers. He didn't know that they existed. Obviously, Walter had remarried and had a second family. I am most interested in finding any relatives that are still around. I have no information regarding my great grandparents. I am also interested in the babies born but not living. I have twin boys, and there are no twins on my mother's side of the family. Perhaps there were a set of twins that did not survive after birth. Unfortunately, my mom is not around to answer any questions, regarding my father's past. It was not a normal topic of conversation when I was growing up. Ironically, I live in Nashville, Tennessee where my grandfather was born. I suppose that is the best place for me to start my search!! Wish me luck!! Pat Wills
