I would still like one, please. How-ever I haven't been sending any lately. I was wondering if I am still on the list. Maybe everyone has taken a Hiatus for a while, like I did. I sent the Confederate List. Was it received? I have had out of town company. I also twisted my knee, and am on crutches for a while. Maybe now I can catch up on data for my CP. Regards, Buffum2

#5. Worthington Kersey (Kearsey) - from Marv Miller

Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 20:34:31 -0800 From: Marv Miller <millerm@halcyon.com> Subject: Worthington Kersey (Kearsey) Hi folks-- Quite awhile ago Tracey posted some information about Worthington Kearsey. See below. I think I have rediscovered the same page: http://www.genealogy.org/~smoore/marion/ If you look under the Marion Co., Ohio Poorhouse / Infirmary Records it lists several children and the wife of Worthington Kersey. You will need Acrobat Reader software to read the .pdf file. The family as I reconstruct it from the entries is: Worthington Kersey wife Mary Ann Kersey age 27 when admitted 28 Mar 1866 Adam Kersey age 5 when admitted 28 Mar 1866 b. Hardin Co. Ellen Kersey age 2 when admitted 28 Mar 1866 (comment says "died") Joanna Kersey age 4m when admitted 28 Mar 1866 Martha Jane Kersey age 7 when admitted 28 Mar 1866 b. Marion The entries for admitting and leaving don't seem to balance. It appears that Mary Ann Kersey left 18 Apr 1866 with Joanna. Adam left 5 May 1866. There either isn't an entry for Martha Jane leaving or she is the Marthey J. Kersey who did not leave until 5 Oct 1869. Ohio State Pen. John, Julia, Mary, Martha, Rebecca, Worthington. It appears that they were imprisoned at the same time. I show Worthington Kearsey living in Crawford Co., Ohio when he died on 7-14-1875, he was m. to a Mary or Martha. His brother was John Burwick Kearsey and his sisters were Rebecca and Julia A. Any links? Tracey

We have looked high and low for my grandmothers relatives without any success. My grandmother was Nancy Kersey and she married Howard Madison Roberts. We thought we had found them at one time as we were working with a Census and found a Kersey with the same name and birthday as my grandmother. The only problem was the family did not have the right mother or my grandmother's sister. What a bummer that was. They were married in Johnson Co., Ga. We have not been able to get any further than the following: Nancy Kersey ( My grandmother ) b. 15 Dec 1885 d. 12 Sep 1942 Lipscomb, AL.. m. 21 Apr 1902 to Howard Madison Roberts Wrightsville, Johnson Co., Ga. Liza or Lizzie, or Lizza , or Elizabeth was her mother . Do not know who her father was, but her mother remarried a C.E. Clark or we assume she did as he had signed my grandmother's report card. Docia was her sister, and we have no info on her. We have no knowledge if she had any other sisters or brothers. Sorry we do not have more, but we have looked high and pow without any results. We may have been looking to hard and went right by the information and didn't recognize it. We would appreciate any information that will help get into the past. We have the family up to date. Even on the Roberts side we were only forunate enough to get one more step back. We have the info on Howard's father who was David, and that is as far as we have been able to get with that one. On my fathers side we have been able to get the Bass side back to about 5 or 6 generations in England and we have the Milners back to the first generation to come to the us. Again thanks for the reply and as I said we are willing to share or swap info anytime. Yours Truly, Tom & Evaleen

BF is my G-Grandfather and my grandfather Lee was b. 1881 or 1888 when martha would be about 42 or so. BF remarried after 1900 to a woman named Pasha. Marv millerm@halcyon.com http://www.halcyon.com/millerm Date: Tue, 15 Jul 1997 14:48:26 -0500 To: millerm@halcyon.com From: hoffman@blueridge.net Subject: Re: Kersey: FW from Nancy Kersey Littlefield > ++++++++Hi: My name is Jean Raymond Hoffman. My brother and sister-in-law (Bud & Jan Raymond, Tulsa, OK) are researching our family tree. They are the ones who have family trees, etc. On a visit there this summer, I got into "genealogy" and told them I would try my hand on netscape. I have written a little about my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin Kersey to someone on the "net" but since I am a complete novice, I don't know if you got that info or not. Anyway, I'll repeat what I know. Our grandmother(Martha [Molly] Kersey Vaughn) was a daughter of Benjamin Franklin Kersey. We know he enlisted in the Confederate Army in Georgia as a young man. At the time, he thought his name was Frank Kersey, but when he returned from the war he discovered a family bible which listed him as Benjamin Franklin. He states that his parents died when he was young. (My brother has a copy of an affidavit which he swore to--when he was applying for a Civil War Vets' pension, I think.) Anyway, he apparently moved from Georgia to Tennessee and eventually to Texas where he is buried. My brother visited the grave a few months ago. We know that he was married first to a Martha (Molly) Vaughn (apparently she named her daughter after herself) and then my grandmother Molly married a cousin Robert Vaughn. Consequently, my great grandmother was Molly Vaughn Kersey and my grandmother (her daughter) was Molly Kersey Vaughn. It was reported to us that there was a lot of cousins marrying cousins, plus a lot of double cousins in the family. B.F.'s second wife was a young girl many years his junior--perhaps as young as 15. Her name is reported to be Pasha. They had two children--one died in infancy and one survived named Ezra. Anything you might have I would like to hear. My brother is trying to trace B.F.'s parents or grandparents--perhaps some of your Kerseys were his ancestors. jrh <>< From: Jane Norton Powell[SMTP:janep@pchnet.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 02, 1997 8:35 AM To: Marvin Miller Subject: Benjamin Franklin Kersey, John Kersey 10 Feb 1926, Soldier's Application for Confedferate Pension, Grayson TX, of B.
