I believe that he moved back to Ga. by the 1880 of 1900 census of Ark. came out, because, I can't find anything in the Ark. Census. I am the great grandson of William H. and Polly Ann (Parker) Kersey. My grandmother shows up in the 1880 census of Ark. with the rest of the children, Except, Emiline, who does not show up on the census. She is either dead, or she married in Tenn. and didn"t come to Ark. with the rest of the family. I am at a total loss as to where the girl went to. Also, there is a Isaac listed in the 1880 census of Ark. and I can't find anything about him. He doesn't show up in a marriage license or the 1900 Ark. Census. If any one in the group can help me with these people, I would appreciate it. The 1880 census shows that Polly A. Keeping house. I do know that Louisa, the oldest girl from the 1870 census, married a Isaac Ray. and when William H. died in 1878. Isaac came back from Mo. and took care of Polly A. and the children. William J. (Jackson) Kersey married a Fannie Carpenter, and they had one adopted child. William J. Kersey Jr. They had no other children. Sarah M. Kersey married a Abner W. McKennon and had 2 children, Ramsey, who was raised by William Blake and Nancy LUcinda (Kersey) Carlile. The girl, Mary was living with Polly A. Kersey in the 1900 census of Ark. Sebastain Co. I do not know what happened to Sarah or Abner McKennon. Susannah Kersey married a Riley Howard and he farmed in the Cameron, Ok. area, LeFlore Co. and raised their children. Fanny D Kersey married a Dixie Brannon and they also lived in the Cameron, Ok. area, of LeFlore Co. Nancy Lucinda Kersey married William Blake Carlile and they lived in the Spiro, Ok. area of Leflore Co. I am one of the Grand Children of Naancy and William Carlile. This is about all I can tell you about the Kersey's and I will tell you that these people are giving me a fit, trying to figure out who belongs to who. If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would appreciate it. Also, Stephen Kersey, married Elizabeth Parker. Elizabeth and Polly Ann Parker were sisters. They were born in Claborne Co. Tenn. Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 22:35:15 EDT From: HTC113 <HTC113@aol.com> Subject: Re: William H. Kersey Dear Marv: I want to thank you for the information about the marriage's of Sussannah Kersey to Riley Howard and the information about Fanny Kersey marrying Dixon (Dixie) C. Brannon. Here is some more information that you can add to Fanny Kersey. She died in 1941 and is buried at Cameron, Ok. in the Greenhill Cemetery. Also Dixie Brannon died in 1940 aand is buried at Cameron, Ok. in the same Greenhill Cemetery. Riley Howard died May 12, 1944 and Susannah died Dec 25, 1930. They are buried in the same Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, Ok. Now concerning the information that I sent you about William J. ( I had him as Jackson & that is wrong, it is Jasper) Kersey. Do you know when William Jasper died. I think the tombstone at Greenhill Cemetery said he died in 1923. I will have to check that out. A. W. McKennon age 25 married Sarah C. Kersey age 17 on the 25th of Jan 1880 in Sebastain Co. Ark. William Kersey age 22 Married Fanny Carpenter age 18 on Oct 16, 1880 in Sebastain Co. Ark. Now concerning the Ssstephen N Kersey. klThe 1870 census of Jackson Co Ala shows that Stephen is age 35 and is born in Illinois. His wife Elizabeth is 29 and born in Tenn. Jackson age 11 born in Tenn Adam is 4 and his sisster Eve is 4 years old and they show lthat they were born in Ga. Isaac is 1 year kold and born in Ala. Then the 1880 Ark Census shwos that Stephen M. is 47 anad born in Ill aand that Elizabeth is 43 and born in Tenn. William J. is 20 and born in Tenn. Adam and Eve are 14 and born in Ala. Then the census shows that Isaac is 11 and boorn in Ala. Now taht they are in Ark. there are 3 more children boorn to them Mary A. age 5 ,,,Louisa E age 3 and Aary L. E. is 4 months old. Now do you have any more information after the 1880 census. I think that Peggy Winkel tells me that William Jackson moved back to Ga. So with William Jackson moving back to Ga. did the other children follow and go back? I don't know. Your help in this matter will be appreciated. Troy Carlile

Wm Jackson then moved to Daus,Sequatchie Cty, Tn and was there in 1900 when the family photo was taken(which I have) a total of 7 children. The baby in the pic, Vera, died in Nov 1900. About the Seminole Roll in Ok., I believe my line of indian blood comes from the Cherokee's. It is because of William H. Kersey Married Polly Ann Parker, who was 1/2 Cherokee, as it has been passed down through the ages by our grandparents. I know that Stephen N. Kersey married Polly Ann Parker sister, Elizabeth, and that she was also 1/2 Cherokee. I guess I will look at the Seminole Kersey when I go back to the library. It is "funny" that you have a Stephen A. Kersey and there is a Stephen N. Kersey who , according to the census, was born in Illinois. There is something about the name of Stephen, that the Kersey's liked. Can you tell me what you think? I know that there are some Robert Lee, in the Kersey's, and I think it is because of the General Robert E. Lee. I figure that most of the Kersey's fought for the South. I hope that we can find out how all of these Kersey's are tied into each other. They have been one of the hardest families that I have tried to trace. Troy Carlie Tulsa, OK

I have looked into the Tenn and Ark. for them. I have found some of them in Ala. My Great Grandfather William H. Kersey and his wife Polly Ann were listed in Jackson Co. Ala in the 1870 census and then My great grandmother Polly Ann is listed in the 1880 census of Sebastain Co. Ark. I did find out that my William H. Kersey passed away in 1878 in Sebastain Co. Ark. according to a paper that Polly Ann filed for a Mexican War Pension. Their Children were LOUISA who married a Isaac Ray, then there was William Jasper who married a Fannie Carpenter, then A Daughter Emiline, and she has puzzled me for a long time as I can't find anything about her. Then the next daughter Sarah M married a Abner McKennon, Then Susannah married Dixie Howard and Fannie married a Brannon and Nancy Lucinda married my grandfather William Blake Carlile. There was another son by the name of Isaac and I can't find anything about him. So Emiline and Isaac are the two Kersey's that are giving me a bad time trying to find them. If you have any information about them, I would appreciate you letting me know. I will keep an eye out for you Kersey line when I am at the library. Troy Carlile Tulsa, Ok
