It sure fills in a lot of the gaps on this line. As always, I have lots of questions. I notice that you have both Benjamin F. and David Kersey marrying Kessiah Gray as second wife. Might one of those be an error? It was reported earlier on this list that Benjamin F.'s second wife was Mary H. Caldwell. Do you know if Martha Graves and Sarah Graves were sisters? Were Adam Kerns, Clark Kern, and Calitha Kern brothers and sister? Do you know anything about the Stoops family? I have Albert Henry Kersey b. 25 Feb 1850, probably in Henry Co., Indiana. He married Clara Stoops in 1884, probably in Hardin Co., Iowa. Is there a connection between the James Kersey/Susan Bell line and the John Kersey/Lucretia Hutcherson line? I have marriage records for James Kersey m. Ann Neal 25 Oct 1830 Bath Co., Kentucky and James Kersey m. Susannah Bell 11 Jan 1798 Bourbon Co., Kentucky (from FTM marriage CDs). >From info previously posted: SJGilbert@aol.com Beck Cemetery In located in Center Township in Lebanon James 11-19-1809 2-8-1897 s/s Nancy Nancy 1-10-1810 3-20-1903 s/s james Stphen Jefferson 4-19-1894 57yrs 11mo 18 da s/o James & Nancy Some of the details differ, but these look like the same folks to me. I have a lot of Kerseys in my database, many of them not related to me that I know of today. I just keep moving the pieces around, trying to put the puzzle together. Sorry to cause so much excitement and then not be able to provide more information. As far as helping, the best thing we all can do is to share the information we have. If we find something, put out a quick email and let everyone know. I've noticed from other lists that people seem to make contact on the list and then hold the discussion off line. I think we should have the discussions online on this list. We can't help with discussions we don't hear about. I am a double dipped Kersey with both of my parents being Kerseys. No - my parents were not first cousins are anything like that.....they did trace it back to some sort of connection but I don't remember where...all I know is that I get to go to two Kersey Reunions every year and that is fine with me.... I have a two volume book-set of the Claxton Family History which includes a lot of my mother's side of the family being as my great- grandmother(a Claxton) married into the Kersey family. I have a second-cousin who is in the process of compiling a History Book of our own but I am not sure where she is in the process. I plan to let her know about this site ASAP. My father was Ray Kersey and was the son of Lewis Elgin and Hattie Horton Kersey. This set of Kerseys are mostly in the Emanuel County area of Georgia. They have an annual reunion every year to which I attend and enjoy the company and good food. I can go back to my great- great grandparents on that side of the family but no further at this time. My mother was Louise Kersey Kersey the daughter of James Daniel and Bessie Copeland Kersey and this set of Kerseys mostly reside in Johnson County. They also have a Kersey Family Reunion every year in Wrigtsville Georgia to which I usually attend and enjoy the good company and good food. As you may notice, I enjoy food. If there are any Kerseys in the group from Emanuel or Johnson County, I would be interested in hearing from you. Everybody named their kids the same names, and their lives in some way paralleled in one way or another. My Benjamin Frankin Kersey ( son of Steven and Mary Kersey ) born in Alabama January 1849 also was in Company E 56 Alabama Cav, also was captured April 1865 and paroled May 1865 ( I have the papers ). Steven and Mary also had a son named William Jasper Kersey ( also in Confederate Army ) married a Mary Folmer, then Sarah Elizabeth King. With Sarah Elizabeth , William had three more children, William thomas, Annie, and Cora. One of the girls married ( I believe it might have been Annie-- I have the picture ) married a Thomas M. Graves, their children in the picture is Athan, Mary, Jack, Murda, and baby Melvin Graves. I mention this because in one of the e-mails this week I noticed the Surname of Graves. If anyone is interested. I have info on more of the Graves Family. Also I have the CD's for WFT, volumes 1 through 12. There are a lot of Kersey's listed if anyone wants me to look up a specific name, I will be glad to. furnish me with the names and dates. I have a room full of geneology with about 150 different family surnames. None of them have given me as much trouble as the Kersey's. If I could find Steven, Stephen Kersey's parents I might could solve some of the puzzle. Doris Buffum
