They are probably from the Kersey side as opposed to the Brewer side as my grandfather, Russell Hill Kersey,His mother, Delia Jones Kersey and a dauhter, Verna Ann Kersey all had strokes and died of their complications. Also my father, Earl Barr Kersey battled high blood pressure all his life as have I for the past 30 years. Keep up the good work Marve. I really appreciate your work Earl B. Kersey Jr.

Anyway thanks Bill for sending it. Some of the new Kersey's might not have seen mine. The Stephen Kersey listed is mine! So I know that he did exist. You can use those accession numbers to get the actual deed from the BLM. I don't have the BLM address handy. Could someone please post it ? I have so many files, it is eaiser to ask for the address HA. I am famous for filing something away, ans saying, " I'm putting this there so that I will remember where I put it " > I never remember. Once it's filed, it's gone !! I am getting older, so let's blame it on that . Doris

Kersey ( Osceola Randolph Kersey ) that Bill listed is Stephen's grandson. He is the son of William Jasper and Mary Melinda Folmer. I think that the William Kersey listed in 1850 could possibly be Stephen's brother ? The Hiram Kersey belongs to Troy, Pege, and Pat. Could anyone tell me why the dates that the deeds where filed, don't coincide with the dates the land was bought ? In 1907 Stephen Adkinson Kersey would have been abt 92 or 94. If he lived to be that old, then that leads me to be almost certain that he returned to Alabama with Jasper ( his son ). If this is true then he would be buried in Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak Alabama. I also think that there might be a connection with my Kersey's and Troys. Just have to keep digging. Hopefully all of the Alabama Kersey's will be related, especially the ones that lived in connecting counties. Does anyone know ? Doris

Date: Sat, 9 Jan 1999 12:59:59 EST From: BUFFUM2@aol.com Subject: Re: Kersey Land Patents in Florida It's me again, The Benjamin F. Kersey listed on the Fl Land Patents is Stephen's son ( mine and Janas' great grandfather ) The land is in Santa Rosa County, 144 acres of water front property, that is now known as Gulf Breeze, FL. This is where he estabilished a three acre Cemetery for his family and neighbors, because he was Indian and was considered black. He couldn't buy family lots in the local cemeteries ( family legend ). Due to unscrupulous dealings, the cemetery is now 80 ' X 80 ', and Ben and his family lie under 1/4 million dollar homes built over them. I did find his tombstone and return it to the small Cemetery. I had to stand my ground . The home owners didn't want it there. I DID PUT IT BACK !!! This is no family legend for me, I lived through this nightmare > Money talks and the rest of us get our cemeteries bulldozed up . I have the deed for Mary Kersey , South Florida , I sent for it years ago. She is not close kin. Anyone wanting it is welcome to it. Thanks , Doris

It shows the actual description of the land and the signatures and a copy of the deed with a numbered page. I believe this is what Doris was saying. It can be copied right from that site. Janas

I found a Sarah Parsons married Newton Kersey on march 8, 1851. Sarah is my great grandfathers sister. Do you have any information on this line? Newton's name appears on a land deed that I have and I thought that maybe I could get some information from this angle. Do you have any information that might be of some interest to me? Thanks for your time. Kelly Parsons Long
