Date: Mon, 11 Jan 1999 09:31:50 -0800 From: Pat Wills <thewills@bellsouth.net> Subject: Another Kersey for the High BP List I have been on the list for awhile and have not seen any "connections" so far with my Kersey line. However, there is a "medical connection" -- my Dad had a major high blood pressure "scare" at the age of 20 and battle high blood pressure for the next 20+ years. He died of a stroke (cerebral hemorrhage) at the age of 41. (I and most of my brothers are on medication for high blood pressure as well) My father's info is: Jackson Richard Kersey 9/9/1927-5/13/69 His birth certificate shows that he was born in Hordie County -- which I don't think exist anymore. I can't make out the city.. it is either Nauchula or Mauchuly... Does anyone from Florida know what part of the state Hordie County was in? His father was Walter Edward Kersey who would have been born in 1896 - Nashville, Tennessee and is listed as a "farmer" according to my father's birth certificate. My dad's mother was Ethel Perryman was born in 1898 in Memphis, Tennessee. She died around 1929 or 1930. After her death Walter put the children (5 of them) in an orphanage - I think in Michigan. When Walter died he was living in Michigan. (People were not as mobile back then as we are today. I assume that family ties would have taken Walter from Tennessee to Florida and then to Michigan.) #9. Kersey research for college - from Farrell Kersey

Date: Thu, 14 Jan 1999 23:35:50 -0500 From: Farrell Kersey <iceman99@NorthState.Net> Subject: Kersey research for college In my psychology class this semester we will have to do some family history research. You have provided me with info about my family before, but I wasn't sure if the people listed was one of my great-great-great grandfathers. My great-grand father's name was John Cicero Kersey. He lived in High Point, NC (Guilford county). To continue my research I have to find out who his father was, where he was from, and, possibly, some dates of the time he lived. Here is what I know about John Cicero Kersey: Born: Nov. 14, 1866 Died: Apr. 20, 1941 Married to Virgina Hodgin (Born Nov. 9, 1859 - Died Sept. 22, 1929). If you can find out who his parents were then I can successfully continue with my research. If you can't could you suggest a link where I may find more about this ancestor of mine. Thanks, Farrell Kersey

Horace Monroe Kersey probably lived in the Jones Mill community of Meriwether County GA. There was a Dr. George W. Pinston and later a Dr. John W. Pinkston in that community. Arch Pinston Kersey was probably named after him. This information came from the History of Meriwether County Georgia 1827-1974. Mary Wolfe Graylwolfe@aol.com

My father's name was Harvey Pinkston Kersey and we never knew where the Pinkston came from. In the history of the Gainesville Tornado they list his name as Pinkerton and my mother always said it was Pinkston, but from where she knew not! His death certificate that I obtained a copy of last summer says Pinkston. My best guess would be that he was named for the family doctor. Sue
