#18. How to use the Kersey page - from Marv Miller
Top
Date: Wed, 17 Feb 1999 20:24:46 -0800 From: "Marv Miller" <millerm@halcyon.com> Subject: How to use the Kersey page Hi Jarrett-- Thanks for stopping by. Glad you were able to get some useful information. The key to my page is that in the right hand frame, right at the beginning. The top row selects which index goes in the left frame. There are three indices: 1. Surname index -- lists all the surnames in alphabetical order. Just scroll down until you find a name of interest, like Kersey. 2. Index of individuals -- This is a "drill down" menu that lists all the individuals in alpha order. So, for example, to find my 2ggrandfather Asher Kersey, select "Kimberley Renee JOHNSON - Benjamin L.KERSEY", then scroll down in the resulting menu and click on Arthur KERSEY - B. F. KERSEY". In the middle of the resulting menu you will find Asher. If you click on his entry you will bring up information about him in the right frame. 3. Ahnentafel index -- clicking on Ahnentafel Index from the main page brings up a list of the direct ancestors of my daughter, Teresa Miller. You can scan down that list to see if there are any common ancestors with your line. Or click on one with a likely name to get more data. The second row of that table on the main page has various Kersey family information. "Kersey links" takes you to a page indexing other web pages I have found with Kersey information. "Join the Kersey list" gives you an email form to join our discussion group of over 100 Kersey researchers. if you have a web page with Kersey information you can "Join the Kersey Ring" and become a member of an elite group of four pages (so far) linked together by this ring and get the ultra-cool Kersey Web Ring logo for your page. ;-) "Kersey list digests" has the back issues of almost two years worth of discussions in the Kersey email list. This is a good place to see if your ancestors have been discussed and maybe find some living cousins. Probably the best way to find data that isn't indexed is to use the site search engine just below the table. You can enter any word or group of words, say a place name, and get a list of links to subpages check for that word. Hope this helps, Marv millerm@halcyon.com http://www.halcyon.com/millerm Date: Tue, 16 Feb 1999 03:13:17 -0600 From: Jarrett Farrell <Timedancer@Airnet.net> Subject: Kersey I dropped by your page and found some info on my Kersey ancestors. Have had trouble finding any records on my ggrandfather Allen Bert Kersey of Sarasota, and today I found out why. He died in the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. He died of Kidney failure, but visited the hospital on an outpatient basis for the last 6 years of his life after being diagnosed with "Chronic Brain Syndrome Associated with Arteriosclerotic Disease, with Paranoid Type Psychosis and some Manic Features". No birth certificate was ever issued for his January 1 1893 birth, but I do have a death certificate and he is buried at the hospital cemetery. His father's name was William Kersey and the mother's name was Laura (maiden name unknown). Does anyone have any possible matches of families with William and Laura Kersey in pre 1880 Florida? Does anyone else have any paranoid psychotic Kersey's?
