Couldn't find anything else about him. Maybe he lived to a ripe old age and married in Tn. at 51 years. Or maybe his oldest son. Sue

Date: Mon, 8 Mar 1999 08:49:00 EST From: BUFFUM2@aol.com Subject: Kersey List Kersey Cousins, This Mark is mine and Jana's cousin. His Kersey line came down through AlWilda Kersey Stephens ( daughter of Stephen A. Kersey ). The story hit close to home for me. My grandfather Ben F. Kersey ( he would have been AlWilda's nephew ) was a Fireman. Pensacola is in the process of creating a Fire Fighting Museum. I have helped them with old pictures of Ben and Pensacola. Also the car crash with the fire truck brought back memories. My father Louis Kersey was killed in an auto accident, in a head on collision with a Beer Truck that was loaded with tons of beer. Everyone was killed, but one person. There were four people in the car including my Dad . While reading the story, I realized that they went into great detail to explain the wreck, etc. I'd like to ask how long ago this was ? Today's news doesn't go into detail to that extent. Maybe it did because it was a small town newspaper ? I did get a picture of Alwilda, what a pretty, Kersey, Lady she was. The indian really shows up her. They called her Granny Little Toe ! Is Authur Kersey kin to our Kersey Line ? Our Kersey's did settle in the Manatee County area. They had to have gone there after the 1870 Alabama Census. They were all still in Alabama when that Census was done, Alwilda was 7 years old. Thanks for the story Mark, and keep in touch cousin. Through Mark, we were introduced to a new Kersey cousin that lives in Live Oak, Fl. I think that most of the Florida Kersey's are connected somehow. Doris

It was last Tuesday or Wednesday, March 2-3. The Tampa paper didn't carry anything on it, and the TV reporting was minimal. It happened in the southwesternmost part of Manatee Co., so it was too far away from Tampa to be of interest, I suppose. I haven't the faintest clue how this Kersey fits into the scheme. I do know that the name is well in use still in Manatee Co., as well as in Hillsborough Co. Mark

We had too many things going at the time. I am still recovering from knee surgery, and that would have been too much standing and walking. "This is history," said Anne Kersey of London, who made here way to Harrod's at 6 a.m. "She made the president lie." Kersey proudly claimed to have been the first in line to sign Princess Diana's condolence book at St. James Palace in August 1997. "I was part of that tragedy, and now I'm part of this one." I suppose the tragedy was that Monica and the president were caught. Joe Kersey jakersey@erols.com

It is a long list of Kersey's, and will take time. I will probably post a few at a time. I can't do it for a while though. My Aunt Rosa Lee ( Rosie ) Kersey 77 years old died and will be buried Monday, March 15th. Will be busy with family for a few days. Following her wishes, the family is having two days of wake. The visitation is Sat and Sunday. My uncle died young and left Rosie with very small children to raise. She was almost destitute. She pooled all of the remaining money after his funeral expenses, and bought a run down dilapidated ( almost shack ) house in Jay, Florida. After many desparing , and almost hopeless times, oil was discovered on the property that the family laughed at her for buying. Well ,Rosie had the last laugh, and departed this life a wealthy woman. Will get back with you on the Soundex, Doris

I have some notes on your family which I found on the web, but I see now I did not record the URL. Anyway, here goes: William G. Cutler's History of the State of Kansas BROWN COUNTY, Part 22 F. J. ROBBINS, farmer and stock raiser, Section 20, Township 2, Range 16, P. O. Carson, was born in St. Charles County, Mo., February 28, 1827, where he resided until shortly after the breaking out of the Mexican war, when he became a member of Company B of the Oregon County Battalion of the Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, commanded by Col. Powell, enlisting in St. Charles County, Mo., in June, 1847, and being discharged at Fort Leavenworth in the fall of 1848, while his company was stationed at Fort Kearney. Mr. Robbins received severe injuries from which he suffers to-day. After his discharge from the United States service he returned to Andrew County, Mo., where he resided until May, 1855, when he became a resident of Kansas, locating in Walnut Township, Brown County, where he has resided since. He is a prominent member of the Congregational Church at Fairview and of Hamlin Lodge, No. 135, A., F. & A. M. He was married in Andrew County, Mo., in 1849, to Miss Martha A. Kersey, a native of Indiana, but for a long time a resident of Kentucky. They have seven children living whose names are - George W., Louisa, married to Irvin Hanson, a native of Maine and a resident of Brown County; B. Frank, a resident of Brown, married to Miss Eva B. Hatfield, a native of Kansas; Abbie, married to Henry Sewell, a native of Ohio and a resident of Brown County; Martha, William and Edward A. Mr. Robbins owns four fine farms in Walnut Township, which altogether comprise 567 acres. This magnificent estate is all enclosed with hedge, wire and board fences, is mostly in cultivation, and is well supplied with water. The home farm contains 240 acres, is in a high state of cultivation, and is well improved. There is a fine nine-roomed frame dwelling surrounded by evergreens, shrubbery and shade trees; stock stables, sheds and lots; granary, corn crib, etc., etc. North of the dwelling is a handsome maple grove. Mr. Robbins devotes his time chiefly to raising corn and hogs. He grows 5,000 to 6,000 bushels of corn yearly, keeps a dozen head of stock cattle, 75 to 100 Poland-China and Berkshire hogs, and 12 heads of horses. He is a veteran of the Mexican war, an old pioneer of Brown, a thorough farmer, a substantial citizen, and is highly esteemed in his neighborhood. So it refers to a Masonic lodge.
