My family history says that Lamar Kersey married Bessie Dunn. I haven't dug into this but there is a possibility the middle initial "L" could be Lamar. Lamar and Bessie had one child named Grace. Also, another member of the family married into the Dunn family. Lillian Kersey married Bob Dunn, they had three children Murrel, Hazel and Morticia. Both Lamar and Lillian were children of my GGrandfather William Kersey and Ggrandmother Mary Ellen Noel, brother and sister to my grandfather Jeffrey Randolph Kersey. I have no detail on the dates or places of these marriages.

I could relate to the family traits of short fuses and Indian heritage. My line is Henry T. Kersey, born about 1830-45 in Ga. Married Sarah E. born in Tn. abt. 1845, they had a son named William (which would be my ggrandfather) listed on the 1870 census Giles Co., Tn The 1880 census shows Henry T Age 49, Wife Sara age 26, 4 children: William E. l0, Minnie 5, Zenia 4, and Dora l. The 1900 Census lists them in Grayson Co., Tx Henry T. & Sarah E Kersey with my Grandmother Lilly May Kersey living with them age 13. The age differences in the census has got me puzzled but the names match up I know the birthday of my grandmother was wrong so maybe the one giving the dates could've been mistaken. My grandmother and her sister moved to Okla. when she was abt. 14 or 15. If anyone has any information on these member of the Kersey clan I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Jo

Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 23:31:47 -0400 From: Farrell Kersey <iceman99@NorthState.Net> Subject: My Great-great-grandfather: John P. Kersey I e-mailed you a couple of months back searching for my great-grandfather's father. I recently went to the local library and researched several census records to find his name. His name was John Parker Kersey, but it was just recorded as John P. Kersey. On your website you have down that John P. Kersey died when he was 5 days old. In actuality, John P. Kersey lived to be 66 years old. If he hadn't I wouldn't be alive! His father was Moses Kersey, who was born in 1800. I have found other facts about this side of my family. I was able to pretty much figure that William Kersey, born in 1722, was my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. Would this help me discover anything you have on your website that is related to the famous relatives section? I'm doing this as a college psychology and need as much info as possible before next Friday. Thanks, Farrell Kersey

Also a Parker Kersey (not on my web page) who married a Sara McGee. The children of Parker Kersey were John b 1868, Lindsay b1872, Mary b1874, Martha b1876, Albert b1878, Edna b1881, Charlie b1883, and Lydia b1885. Any on this match your information? For famous cousins, there is John Woolman, the eminent Quaker minister, 1720-1772. He was a cousin of William Kersey's wife Hannah Hunt. Hannah's mother, Mary Woolman, was the sister of John Woolman's father, Samuel. William Kersey is reputed to be descended from John Kersey the English lexicographer, 1616-1677, and his son John the mathematician. I have never seen any proof of this theory.
