Do you have any information about the Kersey tombstone in Ky. that has a plaque from the Daughters of The American Revolution? I can get pictures of the Kersey cemetery at Ollie Ky. Rather than images, would you rather have a fax? It appears that I have a lot more information on the Jesse Bell family than you. What would be the best way to send it to you? Photocopies via mail, fax, email (jpg)? The jpg's are getting pretty big. I have a question about the EMAIL and HOME tags on names. Are these links to that persons email address and their home page? If so, I how do I request that information be added to my name? You have moviated me. I am going to update my home page http://www.wolsi.com/~bkersey with Kersey pictures. I saw a "picture" link somewhere and can't find it now. Can you tell me where it is? MaryLou and I were up all night and reading exploring your site. Finally went to bed at 6AM. He has sent in three great family pictures and two family group sheets. This one is a late 1940s family group of his grandfather, Jesse B. Kersey, grandmother, Mamie Ethel Sanders Kersey, and their children. I'm hoping Bill can identify everyone in the photo. Based on the other pictures, I'm guessing that Bill's dad, Billie Kersey, is the gentlemen in the back left with the hat on. To get a copy, simply reply to this e-mail without editing the subject line. I'll be sending out e-mails for the other two pictures and the group sheets. It's really the product of everyone on the list. We just keep adding bits and pieces and putting them together. Jpegs work great for me for getting information. I'm always happy to get more stuff to work with and send to the list. The home tags on my web pages are links to get to the main page. Lots people get into my information in the middle by coming in through some index like GENDEX or other link and I thought they needed a way to get to the beginning of the story. The e-mail tags are all to me in case someone is looking at a particular page and has a comment or correction. From the top level page there is a connection called "Kersey Links" with links to other pages with Kersey information. I have added your page there. If you are interested you can join the Kersey web ring also. I'm stumped about the picture link. There are lots of pictures available from the list "GET" directory. You will find references to them in the back issues of the digest. If there is one you are interested in, you can send for it. I'm thinking I should add a directory page for the pictures. Maybe in the next big update... Date: Mon, 11 Oct 1999 12:46:19 EDT From: Hck1031@aol.com Subject: Kersey history discussion list To Bill Kersey--Salt Lake, Questions on Kentucky cemeteries: although not a native I have lived in Kentucky 40 years and traveled all over central, eastern and southern Kentucky but have never heard of Ollie , Ky. Of course it could be up one of those hollows I've never been to or over in more of the western part. Anyway maybe you can tell me what county it's in or what larger town it's close to. It don't seem to be listed in the atlas or any map I have of Kentucky. Also interested in the Kersey tombstone with the D.A.R. plaque on it. Is that in the Kersey cemetery at Ollie? I have been researching my line of the Kerseys [William 1720-1764] from North Carolina for 15 years. Also have some information on Nicholas and Bourbon County Kentucky Kerseys that part of them moved on the Boone County, Indiana in early to mid 1800s. Am interested in the D.A.R. tombstone for a Kersey History book I am writing on my line.

Date: Sat, 16 Oct 1999 16:45:17 -0500 From: Tom Kersey <kersey4@mcleodusa.net> Subject: Kersey:CMD:SUBSCRIBE I'm trying to find information on James Benjamin Kersey, his father Meredith Price Kersey, or his son George Kersey. They were from Amazonia Missouri and James died from a fall in an orphanage in Amazonia. My husband's name is Tom, whose grandfather Clarence was James's son. My email is kersey4@hotmail.com. My name is Susan. Not a lot is known, as Clarence's brother George disappeared when he was younger and Clarence never talked much about his family. I believe that James's wife was named Emma Elizabeth Smith. However, the LDS site lists James Benjamin Kersey as marrying Annie E. Tabler or Tables. I'm not sure that I have the right James, but Clarence's son's middle name is Meredith, so I think I may be on the right track. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Date: Sun, 17 Oct 1999 10:45:48 EDT From: BUFFUM2@aol.com Subject: Kersey List Marve, The e-mail from Mary Henley was forwarded to me. For as long as I hung in there on the Kersey List, none of my side ever wrote. Then I leave and they come marching in one by one. Mary Henley is definately my side of the Kersey's. I have a book on William Jasper Kersey that is about 500 pages thick and has all of his decendents, right down to today. I do have a picture of W. Jasper and his second wife Elizabeth, with one of thier daughters, Cora , husband and 5 children . Have a picture of one of his daughters from the first wife Mary Melinda. Please give Mary Henley my e-mail address, I will be glad to share what I have. I live close enough to go and visit with Osey who is 85 years old, and would love to do that. As I have told you before my computer room is a genealogy room. I have all of my ancestors hanging on the wall, smiling down at me as I try to locate most of them. I have about five books on the Kerseys. The Tally Kersey that wrote to you is also on my Kersey side. She and I have shared information and it turns out that Richard and Samantha Buffum had a daughter that married a Duffel, who had a daughter named Mary Duffel who married Joseph Tally Kersey. Small World ! Thanks for passing thison to Mary. Doris Buffum

It would be very nice if you would post a message to >the group to introduce yourself, tell everyone what your connection is to the Kersey family, and what areas you >are interested in researching and discussing. I am Jerry Walker, jwalker@vvm.com . My great grandparents were Melton Douglas (M.D.) Kersey (Melton was his mothers maiden name), and Leana (Cox) Kersey. M.D. Kersey was born in South Texas(a relative desciption??) on March 28, 1856. They were married July 5, 1881, in Lampasa County, Texas. After their marriage, they lived near San Saba, Texas until at least 1892. They moved to the Oklahoma Indian Territory near Ardmore Oklahoma sometime before May 1898. M.D. staked a claim near in Tillman County, near Manitou, Oklahoma in December,1901. They had eleven children: 1. Joseph M. Kersey, 2. Maggie V. Kersey, 3. Thomas Andrew(or Andrew Thomas) Kersey, 4. Ina Mae Kersey, 5. Rosa Lee Kersey (my grandmother), 6. Cassie E. Kesrsey, 7. Emma D. Kersey, 8. Alvin Kersey, 9. Alvis Kersey, 10. Asa E. Kersey, and 11. L.E. (Mutt) Kersey. I have a record of one brother of Melton D. - Elgin Kersey - B ?? D. - March 1, 1949. and Louis Kersey, born February 7, 1910, relationship unknown. Family tradition holds that M.D. Kersey was a cowboy before he got married and settled down. He is supposed to have worked for a well known cattleman of the time. Leana (Cox) Kersey's parrents were married in 1852 in Gonzales, Texas. M.D. Kersey may or may not have come from that area of the state. I am interested in information concerning this Kersey line, and/or communicating with other descendents of M.D. Kersey.
