Nancy Kidd in Fluvanna Co VA in 1780? I don't know if this is the same Edward Kersey who was the witness to a will of John Kidd in Mar 1785 in Albemarle Co VA. Fluvanna Co VA was created from Albemarle Co in 1777. Edward and Nancy could possibly both been b. in Albemarle Co. Any bit of Information would be helpful. Pat

Ye Gods and little green apples! He was married twice and had two sets of kids. One of the Elijah's on this list may have a buried second marriage someone has been trying to find and my grouping may be it. I don't know how to resolve the issue, but here it is for what it is worth.

I am not a direct descendant, but my family ties into them, indirectly. I believe that Edward Kersey who married Nancy Kidd was the same person who was a witness on John Kidd's will. Nancy was supposed to be, and I hope this is right, the daughter of John Norman Kidd and Ruth Parish. There was also an Edward Kersey who witnessed a Land transaction, I believe in 1760, Albemarle Co., VA for another Kidd. You can find this on the website, Kidd Konnections. As to the relationship of the Kerseys and Kidds, it continues to when Jesse Kidd and wife Nancy Clark (my line) of Fluvanna settled in Kanawha Co., (W)VA before 1825. They had a daughter named Anna R. Kidd who married first to an Edward Kersey. He died in Kanawha Co. before 1850. I have no doubt that he was a descendant. He may have been possibly a son or grandson of the Edward Kersey and Nancy Kidd. At this time I don't know of what relationship that they might have shared. There were numerous Kerseys in Louisa Co., VA with the same names such as John, Edward and Garland. The Edward Kersey who married Anna Kidd, Kanawha Co., had a son named Garland. Have you checked out any Deed transactions for Fluvanna Co. for possible info on this family? I was told that the Kidd family may not have left too many wills, but they settled alot in their Deeds. I have not been able to spend a lot of time in my research the last few months. They left ireland for Virginia, USA. They were shipwrecked near shore in newfoundland and remained there settling in Cape Broyle. I would be interested in joining the group. Morris and Johanna may have had family in Virginia. I would love to find others researching the name. My ggggrandfather was Maurice or Morris Kearsey. He was born in 1815 in Co Wexford, Ireland. He married Johanna McNulty (b.1818) in Ireland sometime in the 1830s. They left Ireland for Virginia, USA. They were shipwrecked near the shore in Newfoundland and remained here settling in Cape Broyle. They had only one son that is known. He was Patrick Kearsey b. 1860. Patrick married Mary O'Brien from Cape Broyle and remained there until his death in 1920. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone with Kearseys from Wexford around the same time as Morris and anyone with Kearseys in or from Virginia. I have seen the named spelled Kiersey as well. Also, one of Patricks daughters, Helen Kearsey lived in Iowa. She was a nun and went by Sister Mary Austin. My grandfathers name is also Austin so I think that may have been a name passed down through the family. thanks for your ear. Raelene Earle
