Is any experience needed to join the club?
No experience is necessary to join the club and participate in club events and take training.
I would like to take one of the training courses; are any courses being offered through the association this year?
The training coordinator is Stan Wujcik. He can schedule training if there is sufficient interest.
Do I need to acquire any type of sailing license, permit, etc?
You must take and pass a basic boat safety course, such as those offered by the Power Squadron or Coast Guard Auxiliary.
What exactly is a "Skipper"?
Someone who has passed a basic boat safety course and passed a PSA on the water skipper qualification test (see the Skipper Qualification Form
Who can sign out the boats?
Any member can reserve a boat. However, when the boat is taken out there must be a PSA Qualified Skipped aboard.
Are guests allowed on the boats?
Yes.
On the calendar there is "night sailing", "club sailing", and "racing." Are these events open to all members or is it individually organized?
Open to all members.
How can I meet other club members and check out the boats?
Come to our Spring 2009 Open House in Galesville MD on Sunday Apr 26, 2009 from noon - 4pm. RSVP to Open House
