A couple of good victories. One on the open OGL ladder, and one on the modem OGL ladder. Great job to both teams.
The next couple of weeks I will be pretty unavailable, so InVeRtEd and FarT will be leading the modem team in my absence. Please help them out and do what is asked. Relon, of course will be takin care of the open team.
Keep up the good work team!

Happy New Year everyone. Alot has been happening on the team. We have lots of new members. We have some old members coming out of retirement. We have a new server coming soon (thanks to all who helped make this possible), and we have Q3 and UT battling it out to become the successor to Q2. BTW, I covered a large portion of getting the new case for our server, so if you still haven't contributed, and would like to, you still can (this would help me out alot).
Be sure to check the roster for the new members so that when you see them online you can give them a welcome aboard. Awards have not been updated yet. I am waiting for this weeks official scores to come out to finish this. After this week, the killball award requirements are changing. Instead of being awarded for breaking 1000 on CLQ, it will be awarded for breaking 100. The fact that it has become unmanageable for breaking 1000 is a good thing. It means we are consistantly doing well. Good job team!
Schedule has been updated for January. Practices on Wed. evenings starting at about 8pm est. We have been having poor attendance to practice, and i would like to turn this around. To be considered for match play you have to show for practices, or arrange to get a reasonable amount of play time with the officers during the week.

We have a match comeing up in the OGL open ladder against clan DI (Damage, Inc.) Please let me know today which day you are available. I have some preliminary feedback, and it looks like it may be Wednesday.
The modem squad won last night in thier match against clan dNd. It ended up being a 3 game match, in which we won 6-4, 1-6, 8-4. The first game was filled with lag for everyone. And since one of thier players lagged for half the game, we decided to rematch, best of 3. The second game, InSaniTy lagged out, and we fell behind and never we're able to recover. InVeRtEd left because of the lag, and was replaced in the third game by FLaGz. We pretty well dominated the third game, at one point it was 7-1. The My salutes to you team, well done.
Also would like to point out Viper's score on CLQ this week (108). Rippen 'em up!
Killballz awarded to Viper, DmZ, InSaNiTy, and FLaGz for CLQ scores. Killballz awarded to DmZ, FLaGz, FarT, and InSaniTy for the victory in the last OGL modem ladder game.

Haven't had time to update...started a new job last week and I have been busy workin lots of hours, which has also been cutting in to my Quake time, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...
First order of business. Welcome FLaGz to the team. He had a great tryout, and will add much depth to our team. If you see him online give him a crisp salute.
Next, practice last night was good. Salutes to all who showed up. It was a good turnout. I'm still not organized enough tho...i'll have to work on that. Viper and I are working on a Stratagy manual called the W.A.R.S. guide, in html format. We want to get everybodys input into this, so that it reflects everyones stratagy, thus improving overall awareness of what your teamate is doin, and what you should do.
Also, I would like to congratulate everybody...we're all improving, in both skillz and teamwork, and our CLQ scores show it. We are officially ranked 48 this week. Nice. KILLBALLZ awarded to Viper, DmZ (me!), InSaniTy, and InVeRtEd for thier CLQ scores. If we keep it up, looks like its gonna be another big week. GET SOME! Also, KILLBALLZ awarded to DmZ (me!), InSaniTy, InVeRtEd, and FarT for our victory over -dNd- in the OGL modem ladder, even tho the victory is tempered with the fact that we have to rematch them. Which brings me to...
We have a rematch with clan dNd on Sunday. The whole
deal is lame from the start but here are the details...
Sunday, August 15, 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time.
Same 8 (4vs4) players. Same map. Best 2 out of 3, we already have 1.
Server is as yet TBD. Anything has got to be better than the laggy server we had the
first match on. I want there to be no excuses for them when we stomp them...
Lastly, I retired KraZyQ today. He has been BaT since very near the begining. A fine soldier...haven't heard from him in ages tho...
- DmZ
Happy 12th Birthday to K2!

Sorry for not updating in awhile. Just got back from vacation. Had a great time camping. Spent lots of time swimming at the big lake, relaxing, and sitting by the campfire. Nice!
Well as you can see from the shot of the month, we got our second victory in the OGL modem ladder. It was a good victory for us, we played well. Killballs have been awarded to participating players. Good job.
I want to start having practices on Tuesday nights. Anybody have conflicts with this? We really need to have full team practices. I don't want to have to make them mandatory, but if more of the team doesn't show up, we may have to implement some new rules for attendance.
Lets give a big team welcome to InVeRtEd. Our newest member, and instrumental in our latest victory. As you can see, I haven't added the new members to the java script list at the top of the page. This is because of the limitation of the java script that i am using there. I am currently looking for a new script that will handle more messages. Until then, just be patient.

GOOD JOB TEAM! We've got our first official victory under our belts now on the OGL modem ladder, and we're currently ranked 32nd. We are also currently ranked 71 on the CLQ. Very nice. We still need alot of work tho...practice, practice, practice.
I have also been doing some work on the Marine skins. Check out the four versions here.
I also have been remiss in updating the page lately, but i don't know how many of you check it out. I want to take this time to welcome our 2 newest members, JaVverT and Viper. Salutes. May your frags be many.
We are working on a new internal ranking structure, and some new officer positions may be announced soon...stay tuned.

Not much time to update today. Here's a link to the demo of the OGL match with Peacemakers. I also would like to give a warm welcome to our newest member FarT. Weclome aboard! We are going to be continueing to have OGL matches for modem players. Please let me know when i send out match info whether or not you can attend. Haven't gotten the schedule up to date yet, but plan on practices every Wednesday at 8:00 EST unless otherwise notified. I WILL get it updated soon, but have some pressing work out of town, and will update it when i get back.

Battalion is on the OGL! Currently ranked 56th on the modem ladder. We had a match Saturday against clan Distributors of pain, and we learned alot (at least i did) in our eventual defeat. Even tho the outcome was not a victory, I think we can use this to experience to strengthen ourselves. I have posted the demo (graciously recorded by Medieval...who BTW stepped in when SUCKy got the jack, and when Snapper got the jack and did a great job!). It has not been edited (yet another thing to learn : ) but gives a good overall performance of the players. Check it out. It may take a bit for me to figure out how to edit the demo, so if any of you get energetic and curious...let me know.
We have another match scheduled tenetively for either Sunday 4/11 or Monday 4/12. Check the schedule page for the latest info. Also we will scrimm da UUP soon, and have a rematch with NUNYA. Lots going on, lets get it going.
Sun. March 7, 1999
Let me just say this first:
GREAT JOB TEAM!
We are officially ranked 19 this week on The CLQ. This is cause for some celebration. I have awarded everyone a KILLBALL! for doing such a great job making the clan happen. I also awarded a KILLBALL to those members that have broken the sub-1000 rank on The CLQ, retroactive to the beginning of the year. I will also come up with some new awards in the future for other outstanding achievement. Once again, Well done team!
I have updated/added some of the Links. Let me know if there is something you would like to see added to this page, or any other suggestions you have.
We had a 3 on 3 scrimm with clan Tandem Kross [TK] Saturday night. SUCKy, ZEALOT, and DmZ lost the first map Smelter 13-0 (ouch!) but won the second map Stronghold 5-1 before SUCKy had to leave and the scrimm split up. TK seemed very organized when it came to controlling the quad, something we need to work on (among other things), and it is difficult to practice controlling it when the server we've been playin on has no QUAD. That is why I am happy to announce:
We have a new HOME SERVER. RabbitPoo (Poo!) has most graciously given us admin for matches/practices at his fine LFire CTF server. The ip is 198.87.144.11:27910. I am goin to try to put up a Live Server Info page soon. It will be sooo nice to be able to close the server during practice. No more spending 3/4 of my time asking people to leave and they refuse. Sigh. We can now close the server if we have to, and practice in relative peace : ) Anyways, we do need to get more peeps to come to Poo's when we are not practicing or matching, so let everybody know, GOTO RabbitPoo's LFire CTF 198.87.144.11:27910 Home of Clan BATTALION!
I am working on an info package on how to use the admins (ie do's and don'ts, etc) that i will send out to everyone with the password. If you don't feel comfortable with having admins, just let me know (or just ignore the information). I want to run some matches myself first just so I can send you as complete an info package as possible, so please be patient.
All you new recruits make sure you send me an email giving me the relevant info for the roster page (ie. weapon of choice, trigger happy quote, etc.). Please do this soon so i can get that page up to date.
Well, thats all for now. See you at Poo's!

Sorry for the Long delay everyone, here it is...
Many thanks to Pyro for the Shot of the Month. A shot of yours truely. I am probably going to put up a skin download section on the web page, and have entertained ideas of creating a 'clan' skin or maybe even a clan model with individual skins. Thoughts? Ideas?
We are still in desparate need of good players, any of you out there interested? Go to the Online sign-up form and fill it out, and we'll set something up.
We are also still looking for a real home server. Although, we may still occasionally play on Entr{}py's cable modem server. And possibly his server box may get upgraded in the near future since he got a new workstation.
Well thats about it, I'm still trying to get the team message standardization thing done, but haven't gotten replies from all of you yet.
Tue. January 12, 1999
Happy New Year everyone...may this one be your best one yet.
Over 1000 hits on the counter...woohoo!
We had our first scrimm tonight. You can see the results above. We weren't able to put up a full squad, so Clan [HRA] filled in (MEGA-Thanks!), and actually they almost won it for team blue. Connect problems plauged both SUCKy and myself, as we had to reboot and reconnect during the match, forfeiting valuable time (and points). It ended in a 5-5 tie, and went into overtime rocket arena. [XTR] won the first frag cap, [BaT] and [HRA] won the second, and the final tiebreaker ended with Crow69 as the last standing...with 1 health point left! Very, very, close. BTW - check out [XTR]'s pings. Ouch!!! But i think thier overall skill, organization, and teamwork were what really put them over the top...They dominated the quad (most of the time), had very organized defense, and hunted in packs very well.
Overall, i think we did pretty well, taking into account all the problems we had, but obviously...we need a bit of work. I am still working on the message list. It should be complete soon. Until then just use common sense...

Well things are finally starting to get going. We've had our first full team practice, which went well. If anything, it showed we needed to improve upon our defense. We need to concentrate on this because without a strong Defense, our Offense will be of little use other than to slow the other team down. I am sure we will become stronger as we get to know each others habits and abilities, but I want to stress WE NEED TO WORK ON THIS. The second thing that came out of the practice was that we need a little better communication between ourselves. I don't know if standardized team messages is the answer, but certainly some standardization could help. If you could take some time and determine the messages and information that are most important to you to perform your task and submit them to me, I will see if I can put together a coherant plan. These are messages that will be coming from the other players, so its not a list of your current message binds. Its what you want others to be telling you. ie. Base Status, Flag runner position and status, Incoming enemy position, etc. Sorry to ask you to help out with this, but I don't want to dictate how you should play, only offer suggestions to improve our strength. I WANT US TO DOMINATE!
Have you checked out CLQ lately. We are all doing very well improveing our skillz and scorez from week to week, but I would like to point out that InSaniTy's has risen to the next level over the past month. He has shown a marked improvement in both his defensive stratagy and sheer killing ability. Thats why I am awarding him the first CLAN BATTALION achievement medal, the KILLBALL! Goto the roster page and under InSaniTy's name click on Honors. This is just the first of many awards I hope to bestow upon you, my worthy clan, for achievement, bravery in battle, honor, and commitment to make CLAN BATTALION a force to be reckoned with. Please congratulate him, and let him know he's doin a great job.
I've been playin some 3TeamCTF lately. This is a very cool mod. The concept is the same as normal CTF, but the stratagy is slightly different with 3 teams. I would like the clan to possibly play this in the future, when we get our team skillz up to snuff. Let me know what you think.
Well thats it for now, and remember...KILL 'EM ALL! Let the server sort em out...hehehe
Fri. November 13, 1998
Happy Friday the 13th everyone! : ) Sorry for the long time between updates but with work, family, hunting, and recruiting haven't had much time to update. We have two new members: SUCKy and KraZyQ! Please welcome them into the ranks. I also have the calender up, but have no definite dates yet. We will be scheduling scrims very soon. Possibly with a high ranking clan or two. This should be good experience for us as a team, and we should look to learn from these matches. We need to start discussing some stratagies between ourselves so we can be cohesive and sharp. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be helpful.
Fri. September 4, 1998
I finally got the 'sign-up' and 'challenge' forms up. As soon as we get a few recruits to get our roster up to snuff, we will start accepting challenges from other clans. I'm gonna put up a schedule soon, with weekly practice, scrimmage, and war dates with time, location, and challenger information. PawnXX has kindly offered to let us practice on his server once a week (mega thanks!). You clan members get me info on what day/time you would prefer to hold practice.
I checked out Chaos Deathmatch today for the first time. Uhmmm...LOTS of new weapons and new items...kinda complicated with all the different binds, but still interesting. New weapons (that i can remember): Bastard broadsword, Chainsaw, Explosive supershotgun : )| , Crossbow with multiple bolt types (normal, poison, explosive), Airfist, multiple grenade types (normal, poison, and flash which are all compatable with the grenade launcher), Laser mines, Living (chasing) proximity mines, Guided rockets, Buzzsaw gun (shoots rotary disk buzzsaw blades), Gavity vortex, Auto sentry turrets (dual chaingun and rocket launcher). New items: Jetpack, Invisibility powerup, the 4 standard Zoid's CTF techs, a grapple you have to pick up to use (you can both retract and extend it), Flashlight, and Antigravity belt. New features: Telezoom, players have the ability to fake their own death then get up and run away, and a Scanner (radar) for tracking enemy movement. Whew! That's alot...But it also has a CTF game built in AND it has built in Havoc bot, although the bot code is not yet complete, this is a very nice addition and is functional.

Back from vacation. A couple weeks of R&R, sitting by the campfire, swimming in the big lake, and feet in the warm sand. Ahhh, nice!
Checked out a couple of other mods while I was away.
NIQ is an addictive server side deathmatch mod where everybody has the same weapon for 60 seconds, then at the same time, everybody switches to a new weapon. It is alot of fun. The blaster has been modified to kill in one shot! Useful for improving accuracy, skill, and stratagy with different weapons.
Played RA2 quite abit. I've also joined the 1 vs. 1 RA2 ladder on the Online gamining league website. I haven't had a chance to challenge anyone yet, but I think it should be fun. It should be useful for honing my deathmatch skills.
I also checked out The WAR MOD. It is a class based mod (different classes have different weapons). I don't think its quite ready yet, it seemed a bit quirky. Plus, not many servers out there.
I played on some Lithium deathmatch servers, and found this to be a good mod. It has runes, and an offhand laser grapple, which slightly negates the advantage skilled rocket jumpers have over the rest of us. This is a well done server side mod, and I usually get a good ping on servers running this mod. I also played on some Lithium CTF servers. Very similar to ZOID's CTF, but with Lithium runes and offhand laser grapple. Both are server side mods, so you should be able to hop on and play without downloading anything.
Fri. August 7, 1998
Capture! was released this week. A well done Quake2 mod that incorporates Q2CTF with a RA2 deathmatch (3...2...1...FIGHT!). This makes for a very interesting/intense game. Other features include: offhand grapple (bind g +hook), a new weapon (bind e energy cannon), and new skins and maps. Get it here.
I have also been playing LMTE/LMCTF40 and like this mod also. It features offhand grapple (bind g +hook), team radio messages (bind r play_team roger), and new skins and maps. Seems to be faster than LMCTF30 but still not as fast as good ol' Q2CTF.
I am still working on the tryout signup form page. Having problems with the fp extensions. I'll keep you posted.
Fri. June 26, 1998
I've done alot of work this week to change the format of the Clan page. I'm
attempting to give it a more professional look. I plan to add a Clan members page
showing member info and a battle schedule.
I am currently working on an online tryout signup form, to automate the signup process for
interested players.
Fri. June 5, 1998
Well, due to popular demand (mostly my own), I am pleased to announce Clan
Battalion will also be a Quake2 clan. We are still looking for a home server, so
anyone out there with any leads or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
We are also still looking for more recruits, so if your interested, just blast me an
e-mail (see below).
I am working on a new logo gif for this clan page, something along the lines of the 3D animated band Battalion logo. Should be way cool.
I'll keep you posted. I've been working on the layout of these sites. Let me
know what you think about them. email me.
