This is Kayla.
Griffin’s Nest Anastasia “Kayla” is our first Leo. She is will be 6 years old
in February 2009. We are fortunate to
have such a sweet girl that exemplifies the Leonberger standard. She
has her CGC, and has placed first twice and second twice in the Novice
Female Category at the NRLC regional shows. Judges comments include:
2003 – “Very nice movement, balanced puppy, good temperament” 2004 –
“Nice coat, great temperament”, 2005 “Good coat, good color, very good
temperament”, October 2005 – Judge Waltraut Zieher “Very well
proportioned female with good bone structure, an excellent Leo.” Kayla
has produced awesome litters of beautiful "Leolettes". As
of this update Kayla has been retired from breeding, however she
does take great pleasure in being certified as a Delta Society Pet
Therapy Dog. She is so sweet. Everyone loves her.

This is Max.
Our 6 year old St. Bernard that we rescued from a divorced
couple. Max was a pet store puppy. He was a bit neglected and in need
of proper nutrition, neutering, grooming and training. He fit in right
away and was Kayla’s buddy. They would play endlessly. He just can’t
seem to catch her in their tag games. He watches over Kayla, and loves
to swim and is very attached to Kevin and is his loyal pal. He has
been a great "uncle" to all the little leo pups. He acts a guardian
to the pups as well as "master" Kev. The bond they share is unlike
any other dog we've had. Max is so lucky that he is in
such a loving home.

This is
Reuben. Kloofbear’s Rocky Shores was given to us by Evelyn
Odfjell de Rues because she knew that he would be in a perfect
environment to enjoy a long and happy life. At 5 years old in
July of 2009,
he’s the “teenager” of our bunch. Reuben is a great kisser, gives the
best hugs, and is always smiling and enjoying life. He has a
mischievous side, but his antics always seem to keep us laughing.
Reuben is Lorene’s shadow and very protective of Kayla. Reuben has
received his CGC and is a member of Caring Canines of Southern
Vermont and is also certified as a R.E.A.D. dog and looks forward to
working with children. Reuben has also proudly become a certified
Delta Society Pet Therapy dog. |

This is Cisco.
He was our pick from Kayla's first litter. He is the kindest,
most gentle and loveable dog that we have ever owned. He just
loves his Mommy and gets along great with all the other males.
He will be 3 years old in May of 2009 and will not leave Lorene's side for one
minute. He loves the water and is a quick learner. We love
Cisco. He is such a magnificent Leo. He just received his
Championship with the Leonberger Club of America and has been in
25 AKC shows. He has placed Best of Breed, Best of Miscellaneous
in 24/25 shows, only coming in second to sister Shiloh once. Cisco is certified as; a Canine Good
Citizen, Delta Society Pet Therapy Dog, Caring Canines of
Southern Vermont, R.E.A.D. dog, Animal Assisted Crisis Team, Leonberger Club
of America Therapy Award 2008. When he visits a facility or
works with the children, you can see the "SMILE" on his face. We are very proud of his
accomplishments and are fortunate he is part of our life.

This is Shiloh.
She was our pick from Kayla's second litter of 11
puppies born on January 21, 2008. She is the cutest puppy
that we have ever seen. This picture shows her at 12 months of age.
At the NRLC, LCA Fall Specialty September 2008, Shiloh won
Best Youth Female, Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite. We
were so proud and delighted, she can certainly hold her own
with the big "boys". Shiloh has also been in 22 AKC shows so
far and has been Best of Opposite 21 times and was Best of
Breed against brother Cisco. Shiloh will complete her Delta
certification in January 2009 and will be out visiting
making many children and patients and help to brighten their
day. We look
forward to a long and happy life with our "little girl".
She is the next girl to carry on the Mountain Lake Leo line.
She will be definitely be a loving and wonderful mom.
Kayla will be proud. |

This is Paco.
He was born on September 12, 2008. He was one of
4 and a had a very different look in the
litter. A white undercoat is unlike all our
other Leos, and his face is so cute, we are
happy he joined our Leo family. He fits right in
and holds his own with the rest of the crew. He
loves the snow and the water, he is a typical
Leo, usually wants to sleep outside on the porch
at night. Quick to learn, tries to please and
acts like a "BIG" dog already! His unique look
will certainly make him a very attractive
Leonberger. Check back for updates on the growth
of Paco over time. (check "Our Leos") |

In Loving Memory
of Gage.
(Dec. 25, 1996 – July 5, 2005)
Gage our
Great Dane was one of the best dogs we ever had. He was so gentle and
loving. He was the last pup in a litter of 12 to pass away. We were very
fortunate for all the wonderful memories that Gage provided us. He
truly was the King. He is deeply missed not only by us but also by all
of the Boys and Kayla. May he rest in peace until we are united again |

In Loving Memory
of Shaboo
Shaboo was diagnosed with congestive heart
failure in December 2006. After heart surgery @ Tufts, his recovery was
a tough one. After many procedures and medications, his heart gave up on
May 17th, 2007. His loss to our family was
devastating. We will always remember him enjoying his favorite past
time, wading in the cove looking for bait fish. He and Gage are together
now watching over us. We miss you SHABOO! |
