My Story |
|
Welcome to my home on the web. Here, I’ll be documenting my radio hobby, both as an avid scanning and radio monitoring enthusiast and as an amateur radio operator. I have always been around radios in some form or fashion. Growing up, I was exposed to radio by my father, who had a CB radio in our vehicles and a scanner in the house tuned to Fire and EMS communications. Once I got my first internet capable computer, I became interested in military monitoring and branched my listening interest out to not only the military, but federal communications, search and rescue, and HF monitoring. In 1996, I became an amateur radio operator. Initially I was interested in public service and emergency communications, volunteering my services at the Chatham County EOC during Hurricane Floyd with Chatham County ARES. Through Field Days, I also developed a love of 6-Meters. In 2008, I finally upgraded to General Class and began operating some on HF. I have become interested in a few nets such as the South CARS Net, the Georgia ARES Net, the Georgia Emergency and Traffic Net, and the GA Single Sideband Net. I’ve also become interested in DX, participating in a small way in some of the DX Contests. |
