In order to listen to aircraft you need
a scanner capable of receiving AM, but most importantly one capable of receiving the frequency range listed on the frequency page. As far as the antenna goes, the supplied antenna should be sufficient.. If you live near a ATC retransmission facility you may be able to listen to ATC (Air Traffic Control) transmissions without an antenna!! You should be able to hear transmissions of aircraft up to 500 miles away in the air and only several miles if they are on the ground. Of course the aircraft's altitude will increase (higher altitude) or decrease (lower) the range respectfully. |
