Oakland County Clerk, Ruth Johnson, addressed the Royal Oak Republican Women's Club. President of the Royal Oak Republican Women's Club, Helen Cost took notes during the meeting. Johnson stressed the theme of "State Issues and how they affect Oakland County", she distributed various literature and touched on the following important issues.
- The benefits of school districts participating in combined elections, rather than insisting on stand-alone elections.
- The increase in real estate fraud, with thieves filing deeds which seem to transfer ownership of a house to them.
- The wisdom of demanding photo I.D. for voters to prove citizenship and eligibility to vote during local elections.
- The fact that only 1% of the population actively monitors or participates in political/civic arenas.
- The need for additional poll workers to man local polling stations.
- Explanation of how residents can use and benefit from the county's website.
