Chicago Cruisers Charter
ARTICLE 1
This association shall be known as the Chicago Cruisers.
ARTICLE 2
The primary purpose of this association is to bring together individuals
interested in promoting enjoyment and fellowship through riding their
motorcycles. The association will be a law-abiding, family-oriented club
open to owners of all makes and models of motorcycles, but one does not
need to be a motorcycle owner or rider to join. The club shall not be
so strictly regimented as to detract from its primary intent of promoting
enjoyment and fellowship, and therefore, the business of the club shall
be conducted in as informal a manner as possible to fulfill its purpose.
ARTICLE 3
An active member of the Chicago Cruisers shall be any person who is a
member or associate member in good standing of the Chicago Cruisers. No
person shall be excluded from membership or discriminated against on the
basis of race, color or religion.

ARTICLE 4
The elected offices of the club shall be President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and Membership Director. These five officers shall constitute
the Executive Board.
ARTICLE 5
Appointed positions shall be Road Captain, Publications Director, Charity
Director, and Specialties Director. These positions will be appointed
annually by the executive board based on the candidates’ qualifications
pertaining to the respective position. These positions must be voted in
by a majority vote of the members present at the regular monthly meeting.
ARTICLE 6
The duties of the Executive Board will be to work singly and jointly and
to mutually agree to share all responsibilities necessary to conduct the
business of the club without undue formality. The Executive Board will
only conduct the desires of the general membership of the Chicago Cruisers.
ARTICLE 7
The duties of the President shall be to oversee all activities of the
club and shall delegate responsibilities when needed. The President only
votes in the event of a tie. The President also presides over all Executive
Board and Club meetings.

ARTICLE 8
The duties of the Vice President will be that of the President when the
President is not available to perform his/her duties. The Vice President
shall also undertake the duties of any other executive board member when
that member is unable to perform his/her duties. The Vice President shall
also help in other positions when needed.
ARTICLE 9
The duties of the Secretary will be to take notes at all meetings; he/she
will also make sure that signed liability waivers are obtained from the
membership prior to riding season. The Secretary will also post all meeting
minutes in the Chicago Cruisers newsletter.
ARTICLE 10
The Treasurer shall retain a written account of income and expenditures
for the Chicago Cruisers. This shall be published in the Chicago Cruisers
newsletter. The Treasurer shall also produce the financial records upon
request by any member in good standing. Club expenditures will be limited
at best. Club expenditures shall be limited to advertising, stationery,
postage, computer disks, phone calls, film, and film processing unless
otherwise approved by a majority vote of the membership. All Chicago Cruiser
checks must have two signatures prior to dispersing.
ARTICLE 11
The responsibilities of the Membership Director shall be to keep accurate
membership records. He/she shall also send out information packages to
prospective members as well as a member package to new members. A written
accounting of the membership status will also be published in the newsletter.
ARTICLE 12
The duties of the Road Captain shall be to take charge of planning and
conducting all rides. He/she may delegate the planning and/or leading
portion of his/her duties, but during the ride the active Road Captain,
if present, will have total control and final say in all situations, maintaining
foremost that safety is the prime consideration. The Road Captain will
also produce the Ride Schedule and distribute it to all members. Any acting
Road Captain is responsible to get the Chicago Cruisers liability waivers
signed by all guest riders with the help of the Secretary.

ARTICLE 13
The duties of the Publications Director will be to design and update the
club’s website for the purpose of attracting new membership and
to be as informative as possible about the club’s activities for
members and potential members online. He/she will also produce a newsletter
on a regular monthly basis and distribute it to the membership. He/she
will provide additional copies to the Membership Director for distribution
to potential members.
ARTICLE 14
The duties of the Charity Director shall be to work on selecting and organizing
charity events for the Chicago Cruisers. He/she shall take all the necessary
steps involved to complete this task in an orderly and professional manner.
ARTICLE 15
The duties of the Specialties Director shall be to present greeting cards
to the membership. He/she shall also keep the membership informed about
other activities happening outside the club such as A.B.A.T.E and the
A.M.A. He/she will also organize special activities that will promote
the Chicago Cruisers or help the membership at large.
ARTICLE 16
The members of the Executive Board shall be elected annually in October
by a majority vote of submitted ballots. A ballot of nominees will be
distributed to the general membership prior to the election day. All offices
shall have a term of one year, but officers shall be responsible for their
office until a successor can assume the position.
ARTICLE 17
IIn the unexpected event of any action by the Executive Board, or by the
action of any officer of that Board, which is deemed undesirable, prejudicial,
biased, wrongful or damaging to the Chicago Cruisers, by any or all of
the general membership, that officer or officers may be asked to step
down by passing a one third or greater vote of the general membership.
Any officer so accused shall have the right to stand up before the general
membership and defend themselves against said accusations.

ARTICLE 18
Regular Executive Board meetings of the club shall be held at times and
dates to be set according to need and convenience. These meetings will
be announced to the general membership in advance. Minutes of these meetings
shall be produced in the Newsletter. Under no circumstance shall there
be less than four (4) Board members present at any Executive Board meeting.
ARTICLE 19
The Chicago Cruisers will have general membership meetings which will
inform members and potential members of upcoming events, and will generally
be followed by a planed ride, weather permitting. The meetings will be
held once a month at a consistent location and time (i.e. the first Sunday
of every month). This meeting shall be announced in each schedule of events
as well as on the website and in the newsletter.
ARTICLE 20
Regular dues shall be paid annually and shall be solicited and collected
by the Membership Director.
ARTICLE 21
This charter may be amended, withdrawn, or revoked after a two-month notice
to the entire membership for such proposed action. Passing a simple majority
vote of the entire membership shall approve such action.
