Beaded Beads tutorial

Okay, I know nothing about seed beading.  I have a bunch, but I don't even remember why I bought them.  Probably because I thought they were pretty and couldn't resist.  Most of mine are 10 years old.... but you just never get rid of them, do you?  Anyway, I've put them in shakers and I tried to make them into spinners, but that didn't work, but then I saw Sarah Moran do some beaded beads and decided to give it another try and this time I had someone show me what to do.  So, I'm sharing with you what was taught to me - feel free to do it differently if you want!  And watch for more spools coming soon!

See what Ginny did with hers?

Put a stopper on the bottom.  Then string enough beads to equal the height of the band - usually between 4-6.

Start the next row by stringing the next bead.  Then go under the bead on the left and back through the top of the bead on the right.

String the next bead on.  Go under the second bead on the left and back through the top of the bead you just put on.  Continue to the bottom of the row.  (the second row is the hardest - after this one, it stays put easier)

Right now, the rest of the beads are down the string - in the future, they are all "tied" together, which is why it gets easier to do this.

When you finish the second row, go back up through the entire first row and back down through the entire second row.  Then start the next row and continue until your band is long enough to go around the spool - usually 14-16 rows.

I like to flip it after each row so I am always working from the top down.  I find it easier this way.

So, it's pick up a bead,  go under left, through the top of the bead on the right (that you just picked up) and then pick up the next bead...

To finish, I go put a little glue on the tail of the string and pull it through a row of beads and cut it off - I actually do this after a few rows to keep it from getting tangled in what I'm working on.

Then I put the band around the bead and weave back and forth, catching one from each side until the band is closed.  Then I go down through the last side and back up through the next row then a little glue and back down through the next row and cut off.
