Tudor Train Station

This train station is based on a picture I saw in a model railroading magazine.  It was a picture of a kit that was a replica of some rural train station back east.  If I ever find the picture again I'll try to scan it and put it up here for comparison.

In any case, I thougt it was a very interesting building.  I mad a few tweaks here and there and I decided to try something new (at least for me).   As you can probably tell if you've looked at many of my other buildings, I go more for the overall arcitectural look, rather than the minifig level detailing.  But I decided to leave the back of this building open and try detailing it.  Let me know what you think!

The roof line for this station really intriuged me.  The large gables in the middle are taller than the main ridge running across the length of the roof.  Not only that, but they go down so that they join the roof line BELOW the main ridge.  I don't konw if this explains it very well.  I may have to take a close up of this roofline to show it better.  Its hard to make details show up when using black (like the roof).  Probably because the sadows, which would help the detail stand out, are so hard to see on the black background.

This is the platform side of the station, where the trains pull up to load and unload passengers.  The big door in the middle of the platform leads back inside the station.

This is a good overall shot of the inside of the train station.   There's a small restaruant on the left side of the lobby, the ticket counter on the right side, and a small waiting area in the middle.  There is also a nice loung area on in the upper level.

Here's a photo of a couple of folks enjoying a meal at the counter, waiting for their train to arrive.

This is a busy train station.  Not everyone gets a place on the bench while waiting to catch the train.
