SHIP'S SERVICE AND ORGANIZATION MANUAL
EXTRA-VEHICULAR ACTIVITY (EVA) ASSETS

EVA SUIT

One-person environment suit, for individual extravehicular activity. Designed (despite it's necessary bulk) for hight degree of mobility and range of motion. "Gill" system extracts oxygen from surrounding seawater, supplying theoretically unlimited oxygen supply to wearer (supplemented by nitrogen/oxygen/carbon dioxide "cocktail" canisters inset in front chest panel.)

CMDR Ford was testing one of these EVA suits when he met the mermaid (#68936) and again when he picked up the pre-Greecian helmet and sword (#69714).

DOLPHIN AQUA-LUNG

Self-contained breathing apparatus for dolphin crew members. Permits dolphins to remain beneath the surface for extended periods without having to surface. Allows them to work side-by-side with their human counterparts wearing EVA suits.

Darwin used one of these for the first time to tag Stark's Delta IV (#68901)

Virtual Reality Probe (*Hyper-Reality Probe)

Highly sophisticated probe sled, capable of operating independent of the seaQuest up to distances of 0.8 nautical miles. Compact size and mobility allow the VR probe to enter undersea caves, sunken ships, etc. that are otherwise inaccessible to exploration.

Data relayed back to the ship provides the VR operator with 360-degree "virtual reality" sight and sound rendering of whatever environment the vr probe is experiencing.

Extendible probe 'arms' allow for manual manipulation of the VR probe's environment by the VR operator on the ship.

Bridger was surprised to find it installed on seaQuest. It was operated by Chief Engineer Katherine Hitchock. (#68901)

VR-PAL (Virtual Reality- Personal Audio Link)

Handheld personal communications link. Audio/video capability. Primary functions; Omni directional communication (operating distance: 25 nautical miles), and remote independent operation of VR probe. used for internal communications in addition to the loudspeaker

WSKRS ("Whiskers" Wireless Sea Knowledge Retrieval Satellites (8)

Spherical data gathering probes (2 meters in diameter) which constantly probe the waters up to 200 meters surrounding the ship, sending back information on water temperature, currents, undersea obstructions, sea life, etc.

Acting somewhat like cat whiskers, they provide valuable data on the environment immediately surrounding the ship. They also are dispatched to the surface, acting as the ship's periscope when necessary.

WSKRS utilize video imaging, sonar, as well as olfactory discrimination -- sensors which actually use a form of 'smell' to better define objects in the inky blackness of the deep ocean.

"SMART" TORPEDO

One of the few remaining external weapons systems still on board. Payload is not explosive, but electrical. As ordnance approaches designated target, it begins to arm -- building up a massive electrical burst which it delivers to the target at the moment of impact. Sophisticated tracking system allows for pinpoint targeting accuracy.

STUN GUN

Hand-held portable weapon which fires an electrically-charged dart. Magnitude of each dart's charge is variable. Primarily used to subdue sea life for examination and tagging, but when necessary, can also be used to subdue a human being. Video sighting and laser targeting systems built in.

Two classes: Pistol and rifle.
