I collect "things". Pretty things. Cute things. Funny things. They don't have to be valuable or important--they just have to appeal to me. At the moment, my active "thing" collections include buttons, Beanie Babies, owls, and tarot decks. Except for the Beanie Babies, I'm pretty selective--anything I add to my collection has to speak to me. I've seen plenty of owls and tarot decks that I won't acquire because I just don't care much for them. My Beanies, though, are a different story. They're all cute and I want them all!
I love Halloween! Donning a different self along with my costume, and entertaining an unsuspecting audience provides me with enormous pleasure. I wear my costume to work and keep it on through the evening for the trick-or-treaters. I've become a number of characters over the years, and each has been fun in its own way. Perhaps my favorite costume was a black cat...but the year I was the Wicked Witch of the West, I was so convincing I frightened little children. (I had to change out of my costume and back to my regular attire that year--the kids wouldn't come to my house for their treats while I was in character!)
When I first had access to the 'net, it was a little scary. I got over that quickly, though, and found myself fascinated by the wealth of information (and misinformation--be careful, because it's a jungle out there) available. As I became more comfortable online, I realized I had a lot to say and should put up my own pages. While my first efforts were okay, I knew they needed work and took classes in web page development. For my class project, I created and now maintain a site for SADSAC, a local pet rescue organization. That site has really taken off! Please give it a look when you have a chance. Like many sites, it is continually being updated, so be sure to visit regularly.
