Parker 51 ‘Wedding Band’
Cap Dent Reversal
![]()
This is a first-year Parker 51 cap commonly
called the wedding band style; it’s stainless steel with a flush gold cap band.
Steel Parker 51 caps can be daunting to work on as it’s quite difficult to
disassemble and reassemble them while avoiding splitting of the cap lip, but
that don’t scare me! Bold? Definitely. Stupid? Maybe. Crazy?
Sure – crazy like a fox who’s a little bit crazy, but
not really, really crazy.
Anyway, on with the show. This particular example had been crushed in
something that left not only big flat dents but also scrapes on both sides. I
had my way with it (figuratively speaking), as you can see. After the dent work
was complete I re-frosted the cap matching the soft matte finish that these
earlier caps seemed to sport.
