Smooth Sterling Parker 51 Cap Restoration

I think I counted 17 dents, dings, and creases in this first-year smooth sterling silver Parker 51 cap – plus a nasty scratch/gouge and some crushing. Also, all the original rhodium plating had worn off, as is typical, except for a long triangle that had been protected underneath the clip; the edge of this wear line is visible in the pictures if you look closely. The images here don’t really capture the full extent of the damage, but you can get the picture.

I attended to each damaged area and removed the remaining rhodium plating; I also gave the aluminum jewel a light polish, though I did not restore the Blue Diamond in the clip as the owner had a replacement part to install. The top-right ‘after’ picture has an area with a light-yellow cast, which is a scanner artifact due to the reflection from the polished cap. There are two sets of images, so be sure to scroll down.
