Midi Review
The Midi Sandpiper was designed by Chris Matheson. In late '97 he changed it a bit and in '98 let HQ make it for him and also went to work for HQ for that year. Also he dropped the Sandpiper and the kite became just the Midi. After that year Chris started making the Midi again, and then quit making kites altogether. The one made by HQ is the one that I will review. It is the most popular version, and if there are any for someone to get their hands on anymore it is typically that kite. Ok, enough history...

The Midi is a great kite, and one of the most overlooked great kites of it's time IMO. Seems there has been a lot more interest in the kite in the last year or so, now that it is no longer available. That is too bad. It is not likely to be made again in the future.

What is so great about the Midi? It is the greatest trick kite? No. It is the greatest flying kite? No. Is it a kite that is always a blast to fly and one that most people that have it make a special connection with? YES!

The Midi is a very nice all around kite. It will do most tricks very well, axels, cascades, 540 flat spins, fades, rising fades, etc. It holds a great fade, I have staked mine down in the fade position and left it there on occasion. It will also rotofade but that is not it's favorite trick to do. Very difficult to get going.

It is too bad this kite is no longer being made. It is/was a great kite, especially for the money.
