A Devon Rex can be a rascal and a charmer at the same time. They want to be included in every aspect of your home life. I have had Devons that can open cupboards and drawers, some that will fetch, some that want to be with me in the shower, some that wag their tags when they are happy and more than a few that will move mountains to get to my vanilla ice cream. Each one is a little bit different and some of them are downright quirky. But you can't help but love these little gremlins.
Devon Rex have a reputation for being "hypoallergenic". This is partially true and totally depends on individual allergies and home environments. While it is true that some people with allergies can tolerate them, you need to think about much more than that when considering this breed. Devons are also known for being a cat with a mind of it's own and a mischievous streak. Choose a Devon Rex because you want a bright and loving companion pet that will become an integral part of your life.
The Devon Rex makes a wonderful companion but they aren't the right pets for everyone. If you are interested in a Devon, please take the time to read everything you can about the breed. Learn about these cats and their "special" qualities and then take the time to visit a breeder in your area and meet a Devon Rex first hand. If you have a stereotyped image of an aloof, genteel feline posing on your windowsill, you aren't going to enjoy sharing your home with one of these little bundles of curiousity. Devons are busy and interactive. They want to be in the middle of, on top of, over, under, around and through everything that you are doing.
And they are just as loving as they are busy. A Devon will collapse in your arms at the end of the day or crawl right under the covers of your bed. If you welcome a Devon with an open heart, a handy shoulder and a comfy lap, you will never look back.
