When placing my Devons, I want to get to know all those who inquire about adopting a kitten or cat from me. I enjoy spending time doing just that. I prefer to meet in person but would be happy to open a dialog via email or telephone.
Because I try to place my breeding cats in pet homes when they are around two years of age, this makes the occasional retired adult also available for sale. My personal belief is that being a breeding cat and living in a multi-cat environment is not always the best long-term home. Every cat deserves the love and attention that comes with a "Forever Family" and I want my retired cats to go to their Family while they are still young enough to be a kitten at heart and enjoy a full, long life as someone's cherished companion.
Those who purchase my kittens or retired cats are asked to sign a contract that states they will take the cat into their life to love. As with all cats, Devons will live a happy, healthy life when given proper care and attention. Nutritious food, daily play, annual vet visits and immediate veterinary care when sick are all very important and that is why I emphasize these things in my contract.
There are certain medical practices that I believe are harmful or unnecessary. My contract states that you agree not to perform any of these on your Kit'ncreek Devon Rex. For example, the contract states that you will not ever declaw or have a tendonectomy performed on a cat that you purchase from me. I strongly disapprove of both of these procedures and believe that there are far more humane ways to train your cat. If you consider these procedures necessary, you are NOT a Devon person. You can't surgically force a Devon to behave. Getting a Devon to behave takes mutual love, respect and sometimes a lot of patience.
The contract also states that your kitty will never go outside. Exposure to the dangers of outdoor exploration is unnecessary for a cat to have a happy life. The inside of your home is all the exploring your Devon will ever need.
