HANSVILLE 2009 EVENT


INVITATION: The Kitsap Volkssporters Club
welcomes everyone to join us in a 5, 10 or 21 km walk.

START POINT: Buck Lake County Park

START TIME: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
FINISH TIME: 4:00 pm
TRAIL: 5 Km rated: 1+, 11 and 21 Km: Rated 3. Description: Walk on road shoulders to lighthouse, then on new trails recently opened to the public in the beautiful Hansville Greenway. Most of the walk is on forest trails. 21K walkers will walk from Puget Sound to Hood Canal.
Highlights: Immerse yourself in the calm of this pristine natural setting. Quiet country roads wind past beaches and beach houses to the lighthouse. Ancient forest paths meander through stands of cedar, alder and pine. Stunning views across Puget Sound, Hood Canal and Buck Lake include Mt. Baker, the Olympic Mountains and the Cascade Range.
Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Pets permitted on leash.
PROCEDURES: There will be direction signs at start point. Participants must register and obtain a start card. Carry a start card, (one for each participant including infants) during this event and show it at checkpoint(s) along the route for verification. Participants missing checkpoint(s) may be refused the award or credit (according to IVV rules). All cards are the property of the sponsors and must be returned at the completion of this event.
FREE PARTICIPANTS: Participation in most IVV/AVA Sanctioned Volkssporting Events is free to all participants. However, everyone, including children, must register, carry and return a start card upon completion of the event.
AWARD: A 100% embroidered patch, designed by Dorman Batson, is $9.50 day of event. 30 Available No Reorders. Credit only is $3.00. Free walkers are welcome but must register, carry, and return a start card. “B” awards will be available for sale.

MISCELLANEOUS: Water will be available at the Start/Finish and the checkpoint. Restroom is available at the Start/Finish.
DIRECTIONS:
From Kingston-Edmonds Ferry stay on SR104 to Hansville Road. Turn RIGHT, travel 8 miles to the intersection of Hansville Road and Buck Lake Road. Turn LEFT onto Buck Lake Road and travel one half mile to the Buck Lake County Park entrance. From the WEST: take SR104 to Hansville Road, turn LEFT and proceed as above. From the SOUTH: From SR3, take Poulsbo exit onto SR305. Turn LEFT on SR307 (Bond Road) and follow directions from the WEST.
