Are you taking a trip and you want to bring your beloved furball along with you? You need to make this as comfortable as possible for your pet. Below are some things to keep in mind.

First make sure you furball has eaten well in advance of the trip. Their tummys can get upset from being scared and an almost empty stomache is way better than a full one!

Make sure they relieve themselves before you leave!!!

You will want to make sure the carrier your pet is in wont fly off the seat if you make a sudden stop. Strap that carrier in as you would a child.

You may also want to put a harness on the little furball so she doesnt slide all over the place inside the carrier. Never use a leash as it may choke the poor hairball!

Try to make your pet as comfortable as possible. Maybe throw in its favorite bedding or a toy. Sprinkling a little catnip in the carrier could help too.

Dont ever put the carrier in the trunk or back of a moving van. This could be disastrous. Keep your pet with you so you can chat during the trip. They will feel more at home hearing your voice, not the roar of the engine, tires spinning or the smell of the exhaust which would kill them.

Be sure to make frequent pit stops. Let your pet stretch her legs too. All the excitement may cause her to have to relieve herself more often. Offer some water at the pit stops too.

You may want to bring along a few jugs of your homes water just in case where you go has water with a different taste to it. Your furball will need to adjust slowly to the difference.

Kittens will adapt to travel alot easier than adult cats. If you plan on traveling alot, get little kitty adapted to road trips at an early age.

If your cat is just to old and scared to travel, try to find a friend or neighbor who will check in on kitty a few times a day. Someone the kitty is familiar with. This way kitty will be happy in her own home. Last option would be boarding the kitty but kitty may not be too happy with you! They can be very noisy, scary and who wants to be locked up in a cage all the time with fleas bouncing off of them!

Are you flying on a plane? If you truly care about your loved one then please buy a ticket for them to ride with you. Many pets become lost or have tragic results from being in the cargo area of an airplane. Thats if they even make the same flight as you! Do you want to risk anything harming your pet? Buy them a ticket!

If you are one who travels alot for work or just fun, then maybe having a pet at home alone is not the thing for you or your furball. They need lots of care and attention. Just wouldn't be fair.
