The European Wild Cat lives everywhere in Europe but Scandinavia
(Norway, Sweden, Finland), and in parts of the Middle East, India, Russia,
and China.

The European wild cat resembles a domestic brown tabby cat, but are
much larger.  Like most domestic cats, the European ranges from 8-15 lb.,
but the European cat has larger dimensions, being about 46 inches (almost
four feet) long from nose to tail tip.  Most domestic cats are about
30-36 inches long, from nose to tail tip.

The European eats rabbits, rodents, and other pests.

The European will avoid humans, and ferociously protect her young,
even taking on foxes, lynx and golden eagles, which are their only enemies,
besides man. The mating season is in March.A litter of 2-4 kittens are
born in a den after a gestation period of 60 days. As soon as the kittens
are one week old, they can use their species' defense startling technique,
which combines the hissing/spitting with flattened ears and growling
(like an angry domestic cat). Their eyes open between 10 and 13 days old.
The father may bring food to the den. It was discovered that Europeans are
monogamous (mate with the same female year after year)
