The Serval lives mainly in the savanna of Central and Southern Africa, Morocco and Algeria. Preferably near the water where there is plenty of vegetation. Head and body measure up to 3 feet 2 inches with a tail & up to 1 foot 6 inches. They weigh at up to 40 pounds, average being 35 lbs. Their diet mainly consists of rodents, shrews, birds, snakes, frogs, grasshoppers and beetles. They hunt at dawn and dusk, using its excellent hearing to locate rodents in dense undergrowth by listening for their rustles in the grass. The Serval purrs and growls instead of roars.
