The Oncilla, also known as the little spotted cat, lives in South
America, in the countries of Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam.
French Guiana. Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador and Uraguay. They favor
the wooded countryside of these countries.

The oncilla is very small. The largest males not exceeding 6 lb.

They are believed to catch small animals like birds and rodents. Despite
their diminutive size, they are aggressive cats, with a reputation for
killing their larger cousins.

They have been hunted extensively for their fur. 13 000 were taken in
1977, and 84,500 were taken in 1983 alone. Despite having a large range,
it is not very common, and all this hunting could cause the species to
go extinct.  Habitat loss also affects these cats
