Tigers Mating...When a female is ready to mate, she advertises by
marking her territory with urine, which contains scent signals which
male cats detect with a special organ located in their mouth. Her
signals will attract several male cats in the area. Once a male and
female cat have been introduced, there follows a period of courtship.
During this stage, they use sounds and body language to signal their
intentions towards each other. At first the female denies the male,
but eventually responds to his advances and gives him a signal she is
ready to mate. Cats will often stay together for a couple of days ,
mating repeatedly to ensure that the female becomes pregnant.
