DALTON OF THE WEEK - SCORPION

Our fourteenth Dalton of the Week is the Scorpion. Based on posts I've seen on the various forums, the Scorpion was released in January 1999, after the last of the M6's were made. The Scorpion was followed by the Arc Angel in March of 1999. The Scorpion mechanism is essentially the same as the M6. In fact, where you might consider the M9 an M6 on steroids, the Scorpion would be an M6 on LSD.

The first batch of Scorpions was done in olive drab. This must have been a small batch, as they are much less common than the black handled Scorpions. Some of them were marked as Protos. Here's a picture of one of this first batch with a Proto marking:

The second batch of Scorpions had black anodized handles and came with either plain or serrated blades. Here's a serrated one:

The dimensions are as follows:

Overall Length: 9 - 3/16 along the outside curve
Blade Length: 4" along the outside curve
Blade Thickness: 1/8"
Handle Thickness (not incl. clip): 0.488"

The Scorpions all had pocket clips and the Dalton logo etched on the blade. There were no other markings. Besides the two colors and the plain/serrated variations, the only other variation that I have spotted is that the retracting handle was fitted with a screw on some, and with a leather thong on others.
