What to do after an accident:
- Stay at the scene of an accident until police have arrived. Make sure you have the name of the officer and they have your version of what happened.
- Obtain information from the other driver. See form to the right.
- Report the accident promptly to your insurance company. Inform them where your car may be inspected for damages.
Know your rights
- You have the right to choose the repair shop of your choice
- You are not required by law to obtain more than one estimate or appraisal
- You are entitled to have your vehicle repaired to its pre-accident condition, in function, appearance, safety, and value.
- You should request a written warranty. This should include labor, materials, parts, and paint.
