    4.   Describe the  difficult journey that many of these immigrants undertook to come here.
   5.   What did Lisa See recall about her grandfather?
    6.   Explain  what happened at Ellis Island. Where is it and how many people came through there?
    7.   Where is Angel Island and how and when was it used?
    8.   Define culture shock.
    9.    Do you think America can be described as a melting pot today?
  10.  What is nativism and when  did it gain support in America?    How do you feel about nativism?

      27.    How did the Republican Party split during the election of 1880?

      28.    What happened to President Garfield?

      29.    Why was the Pendleton Act important?  How has it shaped government jobs even today?

      30.    What is a tariff?  Who benefits from a high tariff?  A low tariff?
