History
Knox Custom Chrome was started in April 1967 as Knoxville Bumper Exchange inc. Repair and plating of "Re-chrome" bumpers continued through daily production methods for 30 years. Rubber and plastic bumpers were also repaired daily and the company moved into the aftermarket crash business. Knoxville Bumper reached annual sales of two million dollars. In January of 1997 the production line was closed and the distribution end of the business was sold. In February of 1997, Knoxville Bumper Exchange inc. began doing business as Knox Custom Chrome and moved exclusively into custom plating dealing with classic car bumpers and other restoration vehicle parts.
