April 25th 2004 - Cape May NJ

Visited Cape May's Higbee Beach again this morning. 6-8 Orchard Orioles landed on a blooming tree near by. Gnatcatchers were a common site. White-eyed Vireo provided great sound affects for hours...

April 19th 2004 - Cape May NJ

Spent the weekend in Cape May as the weather finally turned around. Missed out on a Common Snipe as it flew away just before I could get a shot off. Higbee beach had a number of migrants come through.

April 4th 2004 - Barnegat Light NJ

Back at Barnegat Light yet again. More of the same as far as variety of birds. Over 20 Harlequin Ducks were there along with a ton of Gulls, over 100 Purple Sandpipers, Brant and 12+ Ruddy Turnstones.

January 4th 2004 - Barnegat Light NJ

Back at Barnegat Light for my first outing of 2004. I had my first images of Snow Buntings (1 - 2 - 3 - 4) and a couple of poor quality images of Common Redpolls. The Purple Sandpipers were once again very accomodating (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5).

December 27th-28th 2003 - Barnegat Light NJ

Paid a visit to Barnegat Light to take photos of the Harlequin Ducks (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6) that winter there. I had a great time as I got within 3-4 feet of 3 Lapland Longspurs (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6) and a flock of Purple Sandpipers (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9). Also took pictures of Long-tailed Ducks (1 - 2 - 3 - 4) and Surf Scoter (1 - 2) among others.

December 2003 - Brigantine NWR NJ

Visited the refuge a few times this month. Snow Geese are a common site. Fist look at a Barred Owl ( 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 ). I also saw this raptor (Red-shouldered? Broad-winged? Cooper's?)... Great Blue Heron is always a favorite subject for me. An American Coot feeding , a Belted Kingfisher with a last bite before sunset, and one of the 5-6 Pied-billed Grebes I saw.

November 2003 - Cape May NJ

Both Kinglets were numerous; Golden-crowned Kinglet and Rudy-crowned Kinglet. Also took pictures of Eastern Phoebe, Hermit Thrush, Cooper's Hawk and this Black and White Warbler about to have breakfast!!


October 19th 2003 - Cape May NJ

Sparrows have taken over Higbee; Swamp Sparrows, White-crowned Sparrows, White-throated Sparrow, UFO Sparrow 1 (1st winter White-throated?) and UFO Sparrow 2 (Chipping Sparrow?) among others. Saw 2-3 dozen of Palm Warblers. Good number of raptors icluding this Northern Harrier

October 5th 2003 - Cape May NJ

Very productive trip on the 5th. Great images of an American Bittern ( 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 ) at the Meadows (thanks to some fellow birders!!). Higbee Beach was lots of fun as well; Blue-headed Vireo, Least Flycatcher, Black-throated Green Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler, Brown Thrasher and Black Vulture are some of the birds I took pictures of. Yellow-rumped Warblers were all over Higbee (69,000+ were counted in the morning alone!). Also saw 3 to 4 Rudy-throated Hummingbirds.

September 2003 - Cape May NJ

Numerous trips to Higbee Beach, the Meadows and the Cape May Point State Park resulted in only a few images of; Northern Waterthrush, Red-eyed Vireo, White-eyed Vireo, Yellow Warbler, Pied-billed Grebe, Royal Tern and Common Eider.

September 2003 - Brigantine NWR

Was able to finally take a semi-OK picture of a Northern Harrier. Was also able to get very close to a Cattle Egret. First image of a Northern Bobwhite and Caspian Tern.


August 2nd-12th 2003 - Greece

I took a number of pictures in a recent trip to the North Western part of Macedonia, Greece. Most of the images were taken near the village of Agia Sotira and around the lake of Kastoria

July 27 2003 - Bombay Hook NWR - Delaware

An immature Bald Eagle flew by a couple of times. American Avocets and Greater Yellowlegs were a common site.



July 26 2003 - Stone Harbor NJ

Visited a big breeding colony of Black Skimmers ( 1 - 2) and Common Terns. In the few hours I was there, I also saw a ( Royal Tern ) Semipalmated Plovers ( 1 ) and many other shore birds.

July 18-25 2003 - Brigantine NWR

I got my first Gull-billed Tern ( 1 ) a few shots of Black Skimmers ( 1 - 2 - 3 ) and some sunset images of Glossy Ibis ( 1 - 2 ). Shore bird numbers are steadily increasing ( 1 ).


July 12 2003 - Cape May Point NJ

I was lucky enough to take some shots of Piping Plovers ( 1 - 2 ) The Oystercatcher nest was no longer occupied, but the pair was still in the area ( 1 - 2 ). Least Terns were also a common site ( 1 - 2 ).

July 3-5 2003 - Downeast Maine

An unforgettable trip to Machias Seal Islands gave me the opportunity to photograph Puffins ( 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 ), Common Murres ( 1- 2 ), Razorbills ( 1 - 2 ) and Artic Terns ( 1 ) . I also spent some time in Moosehorn NWR where I took this picture of a Hummingbird ( 1 ) and ran into this bear!! ( 1 )
