Former radio
sports announcer Rudy Lachenmeier hosted this weekly report on hunting and
fishing activities in the Northwest.
Fishing and Hunting Show Popular on KPTV Thursday
Rudy Lachenmeier, the
"Man with a thousand reporters," is featured each Thursday
evening on KPTV at 6:00p.m. with his own "live" show,
"Hunting and Fishing News." The program is currently being
sponsored by Crosley-Bendix dealers and has been on continuously since
July of 1953.
The "fish
reporter" pictured on the cover was an average salmon--20 pounds, 2
ounces--caught by Jerry Atherton of Portland.
Rudy, publisher of the Weekly
Fishing and Hunting News, highlights the "best fishing
spots" for the weekend angler along with instructive and educational
slants on outdoor sports. His KPTV "Salmon Roundup" which
offers prizes for every size of salmon and an outboard motor each week for
the average size fish of the week, has been the leading mail puller in
recent weeks with thousands signing up for the sports event.
Rudy was a nightly sports
broadcaster on radio for 11 years and his fishing and hunting newspaper is
an outgrowth of that sportsman service which now offers exclusive coverage
in the northwest.
As trout season opens, the
paper and the TV program will offer last minute tips compiled by long
distance telephone from up to 200 of the major Oregon and Washington
streams and lakes.
